Was it just a fuse ?
All that I pulled to prevent the AC from running was a fuse. I left it out until I was able to determine what was causing the AC to not work and the excess noise when it was trying to and get it repaired.

My 2019 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 off-road stopped working last Saturday. When I pulled up to a store it was blowing ice cold. I shut the vehicle off & went inside for 10 minutes. When I came out of the store & started my Ranger it was blowing hot air. We are in the middle of a heat wave here in New Jersey. Unfortunately the local Ford Dealer can not get me in for service until August 11th. At least I'm saving fuel lol
I feel your pain (and heat). I had to move my son back from college after he graduated and that was a hot ride - two hours in each direction. When the new dealership found the problem, they at least had to charge the system to find the leak, so I did have A/C until the parts came in to fix it.

No - the expansion valve was faulty. They were able to get the valve ordered right away but it did not come with the seals, and they were back-ordered for a couple months. They finally arrived so the repair was completed on Monday, July 25, 2022. I was able to use the A/C because they recharged the system when they looked for leaks. It had been leaking for almost six months (mostly winter months) before the leak was discovered, so I'm guessing that is why they had to add dye again.

Mine was just the seals by the expansion valve. They said the seals were on back order with no ETA. I found them for $11 online and bought them. Took them to service and they reimbursed me for them.

Great Plan! Wish I would have thought of that, although they did recharge my A/C system so I had air - just with a slow leak.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the environmental issues with current automotive refrigerants, I know the stuff in my old cars have really strict recovering rules, so I just pulled the relay to prevent the system from pressurizing and leaking more. I know 1234yf is currently considered not harmful, but back in the 90s that was the opinion of 134a too.

Did you ever get a refund from the first dealership ???
My refund came in the mail today - $149.99. I sent a couple letters, an email, tried calling. Last letter I sent involved filing a case in small claims court. Guess that got their attention!
