you mean the same people that most question how in the hell they did something so dumb on vehicles?

not saying you but an engineer is still just a person and scenarios can be different. the bar will most likely help but i wouldnt put my full faith in it tbh
I mean it's not just one engineer. It's a whole structure of development teams around the globe continuously testing to standards established by decades of car crash data. A loooot of resources go into what you're eye-balling and writing off as flimsy.

Also most engineers I encounter are extremely competent. Tbh it's most often the people complaining about engineers that lack any mechanical aptitude.

I think we're beating a dead horse here

couldnt tell ya lol some people just do stuff differently lol

tubbing the cabin ya it can be but most just beat the crap out of to make em fit close enough and call it good most really only tub on 37s but if you wheel hard you will need larger tires 33s only get you so far tbh
1000% thats part of why I went for it and just did the 35's (apart from getting a ludicrously good deal on them) you can't replace ground clearance here in florida with lots of ruts and mud and sugar sand also water crossings being higher up is invaluable cause you'll frame out

sooo i will say one thing about a diff drop and thats nah leave em out.. all they do is drop your diff lower as a grab point to get hit... especially if you wheel the truck...

plus diff drops are usually only for higher lifts not for larger tires
Usually those two things go hand in hand according to the offroad parts store that I trust if you go to like a 3.5 or higher you definitely need a diff drop and also you need at least 3.5 to clear 35's which has a nice symmetry lol so while you are correct that you don't directly need it for larger tires you usually need to go higher anyway to clear them so a diff drop is gonna be needed either way.

A diff drop is only really needed for 4” of lift and higher a tire increase the entire trucks height your suspension pushed the body away which puts stress on your cv a tire will not effect it… plus you can fit 35s with a 2.5” lift if you are willing to go to glass fender and trim a bit

Also no kidding a parts store is going to tell you to buy it… they want you to spend money…

I thought you were running a setup like the tremor and not 35s??
Florida offroad is different then most because it’s more swamp vs out here you get deep mud and clay and rocks and loads of trees…. My tacoma has a bit of abuse from trees

actually the guys who put it on and told me that just installed it I didn't even buy the lift from them.
And while I was waiting for them to install it i was running them with a level only it technically fits but not practically you will rub like a mf and have the turn radius of a cargo ship

Nope 35's wheels and tires from a bronco sasquatch 3.5 suspension lift and a shock swap also new uca's. And dude you would be surprised we have loads of clay especially in the middle of the state its clay sugar sand mud and also a ton of trees not a whole lot of rocks tho generally but as you probably know that clay mud is absolutely deadly just sucks you in and is so slick you can't get traction

gotcha but my statement still stands on them lol if you wheel the truck its best to stay away from them unless you are on a block life of 4" or higher..
and id imagine lol 35s are large but you can run it if you are willing to cut or run fiberglass fenders staying low is way better for off camber situations then making the truck taller to fit the tires

ah gotcha might have gotten you mixed up with another on here tbh

is your lift a block lift or a true suspension lift?

ya clay sucks... most of the time here it just makes you slide unless you find a random hole and sink into it then its a nightmare to get anyone out... ive had to winch a dead 80 series land cruiser out of a hole because it has a great design... when the distributor gets wet the thing shuts down.... and wont start again until its fully dry... and man do those things weigh a lot! and of course thats the day my old super winch decided to be finicky and finally fail..

Sorta a hybrid of both I did spacers but also swapped out the shocks and adjusted those to get me to 3.5 along with new uca's and yeah clay looks fine until it isnt lol then by the time you realize that sucker has you up to your doors in it. For what I do ground clearance is key so going higher made sense, as florida is flatter than (insert cancel worthy joke here) there isn't a lot of off camber stuff but I can still comfortably get to like 35 degrees roll angle and probably further but my courage dries up after 35 lol

ah i gotcha on my tacoma its full suspension with extended rear shocks and cut rear springs (the dakar leaf pack on the tacomas will bind on one leaf end so you trim it off for more droop) and ext travel up front with no sway bar so it did very well offroad i just hated off camber because how much that thing leaned! it would always scare me shitless lmao

ya that makes sense for florida i had a buddy who use to live down there and he said the same thing you dont really need droop you need height to get away from things with the mud and clay so most run a block lift with suspension to get up higher

Yeah height and clearance are a lifesaver, I'm at a nice point where I can go through just about anything florida throws at me but without compromising road performance

thats good most of my trucks ive owned have performed better offroad then on road because of how the suspension was setup and removal of the sway bar but once i got use to it i had no issues haha

never done any offroading in florida mainly because i was 12 when i went for the first and last time i went lmao
