Hey guys, so I am planning to get 285/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks on the stock wheels. I'm not 100% sure whether or not they clear the spindles (from what I've read on the forums here, some 285s do clear, but perhaps not all of them). So I was thinking I wanted to pick up a .25'' / 5mm spacer as a just in case. Searching back through the forum though, I can't seem to find any that people have recommended. I know for larger spacers, FactionFabs seems to be the go to, but they don't have anything that small. I see there are some floating around using my google-fu, but I don't want to buy something random when there's some better choice. Any suggestions out there?

Alternatively, can anyone confirm one way or another if the Wildpeaks clear the spindle?

They make 1/4" spacers but they're basically just a shim. But you might need longer wheel studs to safely use them. Since your using stock wheels you might consider going to a 1" spacer. That should push the wheels out flush with the body.

A 1" spacer on stock 17's or 18's makes all the difference in stance/clearance especially when leveled. Looks so much better with them installed. I've had them installed on mine for two years now with no issues on stock 18's.

TBH I would just go 1 inch spacer and remove all doubt as was also pointed out the real small ones are basically shims so that will reduce the number of threads your lugs are on which is not ideal

I wouldn't plan on keeping the shim, but I'm heading out to my family's place to put the lift and tires and everything together, and just want a back up plan before I spend any real $$ on FactionFabs spacers that I may not need. But I need to be able to drive back home :).

Are you doing a set of 5 or just 4? If so you could do the spare first, check fitment and if its all good dont waste your money on the shims if not idk how feasible it would be but u could just put the tires in the bed get the faction fabs and then mount the new tires once you have them

That's a good idea. I am planning on doing all 5. Let me look into the FactionFab's lead time, if that's not an unreasonably long lead, that might be the best path forward. Thanks for the suggestion.

It shouldn't be anything special of a build. I'm just looking to have some good confidence in going wherever I want up in the upper pennisula because there are some roads and forest roads that the factory nav keep taking me on that are just not really real roads. I remember back a few years ago in my Escape being routed through some sand dune road that kept having signs posted "if you don't have 4Lo, don't go"... it was a 45min detour to avoid that 1/2mi section.

Warn EVO 10
589's Hidden Winch
285/70R17 Falken Wildpeaks (chosen due to the really positive winter reviews, and to be something besides a KO2)
Shrockworks Rocker Rails
BDS Intrusion Bars
DD Sport Amber Fogs
A bunch of recovery gear
And a built up Yakima Overhaul bed rack

I gotta go visit michigan lol that sounds so fun detour not withstanding lol, but thats gonna be a solid build, how far along are you with it? Also did you get the at3w's? Before I did the sasquatch setup I was looking at those too, everyone I have seen and talked to said they are fantastic tires on and offroad, winter isn't really a factor for me here in fl since we have like 3 cold days a year and no snow lol

I have everything but the tires ordered and waiting for me at my family's place. I was out of the country for a year, and couldn't help but shopping for the truck :p... Tires and the winch I was waiting on getting back to order (winch has since arrived), and I only recently settled on the 285/75.. I was debating between that and the 255/85s, but the fact that they only come in a E load rating sold me on the 285s instead... but thus enters the concern around the fitment.

Now to just find a solid week to tear the truck apart and put everything on at once :)

Thats the kicker right there lol I definitely think all at once is the move, with the crash bars gone my only concern would be like you said the spindle itself, even with the stock hankooks its hella tight though I managed to get 315 70 r 17's on though my wheel offset is closer to zero than the stock and they clear perfectly fine i think the sasquatch wheels are like +33. Not sure how likely it is but if you ever find yourself in central florida I have quite a few spots we can take the trucks out and test all the new equipment lol

Haha, yeah, the spindle is the issue. And if it doesn't clear that, I can't drive the truck! I mean, in theory, a 285 should only be 10mm wider on each side than the stock 265s... and there's like 15mm of clearance to the spindle as is. So I *should* be okay... but that seems mighty close for an assumption where the consequences are that the truck is not driveable.

you technically could for a short time lol but it would be essentially acting as a potato peeler and eventually tire exploder lmao. Yeah playing it safe especially with something that can cause a blowout is the best move

589 shows the hidden winch mount out of stock. Are they just making them to order now?
