This is not an accurate indicator of overstocked inventory. The article indicates it did not include any 2020 vehicles in dealer lots that had few 2021 models to offer. NOTE: Interesting...if the dealer had few 2021 models in inventory, their sales would collapse if they had no 2020 models. Their analysis should have been just the opposite....only dealers that had large 2021 inventory. Poor analysis by iSee Cars.com. Below is from the end of the iSeeCars.com original post:
Methodology
iSeeCars.com analyzed over 700,000 new cars listed for sale as of January 29, 2021. The share of each model from the 2020 model year was used to rank them. Heavy-duty trucks, lower-volume models, and cars that did not have a large amount of 2021 inventory available were excluded from further analysis.
