Got my ranger brand new in march 2019. Currently just about 6 years old and only 47,000 Miles. so 1 year past my powertrain coverage :)

In the past month I have been having shifting into gear issues. My truck got stuck in the middle of a highway as I was trying to cross because it would not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Been having all kinds of issues shifting in low gears now.

Took it to a local mechanic, said it was bad transmission and quoted $8,500.

Taking it to Ford tomorrow to get their price/diagnosis.

Anyone have any recent experience on this?

See if Ford will help you with the cost. Some have received assistance. Or get a good used low mileage one out of a 2022 ( with a build date of 9/22 or later) or a 2023. They will be the updated transmission. Attached a list of some close to you. That one with 6500 miles and $1800 looks pretty good

Just happened to me two weeks ago truck had 75k miles on it and dealer sent it to ford and they agreed to cover 5k of the 11k quote…. Still a big hit to the wallet ?

My 20 XLT started doing that but i got it back before the 5 years was up .The transmission was eating it's self up . Local Ford dealer rebuilt it ,no charge of course. Works good now except for the clank before it goes in to reverse (engine running, foot on the brake ) before backing out of the garage .

According to the service manager, it has a 3 year warranty . I 've had them check the noise and of course they couldn't duplicate it . I'll take it back until they do something about it .

i would definitely push for it mine started as clunky when put into reverse then started looking for gears and then slippage. They said the torque converter shredded into the transmission

Just confirmed with dealer that the price now for a new 4x4 transmission is $2953.33 msrp ( plus $1000 refundable core charge). So it appears they dropped the price again which is a good thing. Levittown Ford who’s on this forum is advertising them for $2458.65 plus core charge.

wow at that price I probably could’ve done it myself or took it to a local tranny shop for cheaper than the 6k i’m paying….

Ford just called me back, quoted 13k. They have submitted a case to Ford and waiting to hear back on whether or not anything will be covered. Im screwed if not Lol.
Seems like they will help out somewhat, seems like they should help you out quite a bit since you only have 47k miles, but who knows. They told me for the goodwill program they assign each customer points according to how many cars bought from ford, if you bought the car new, if you did service with them etc.
