  1. Finally a uesful TGD.... Tundra PRO TRD

People think everything is ugly when new vehicles are revealed. I think it looks fine, maybe a bit of an underbite but it wouldn't prevent me from buying it. The new Tundra has appeal to it though. As long as it's priced okay, it definitely seems to be more family/consumer oriented than...
  2. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

Glad I found this thread because I'm experiencing similar issues. Same symptoms as OP, where the truck starts bucking/surging if the engine is at ~1500 rpm with about 5% throttle. It goes away as soon as I put it into sport mode to downshift the trans or step on the gas. I had assumed it was bad...
  3. FX4 Payload

But to add to the confusion, some "factory" options are just installed at the dealership to streamline the factory process. So who knows haha. But yes, I would imagine the different wheels, tires, skid plates, bedliners, power vs manual seats, etc all make a difference.
  4. FX4 Payload

My guess is that they weigh the trucks at the plant and determine payload by subtracting curb weight from GVWR. Then they print the door jab label, so each payload figure is custom for each truck, down to the pound. Depending on the specific combination of options you get, seat materials, tow...
  5. Recommended tires for a 2019 Ranger for mixed use?

Maybe deform wasn't the best term, perhaps deflection is better. Tires deflect to produce grip by design, and they definitely deflect more than one might assume. When you do the chalk test, you're only optimizing for parking lot speeds at parking lot temperatures, which is why it's not my...
  6. FX4 Payload

Oh good point, FX4 isn't included in the table, just 4x4. Still though, you think 4x4 and FX4 have nearly a 150 lb curb weight difference? Guess the skid plates add up.
  7. FX4 Payload

Very disappointing for sure that Ford just didn't add a trailer brake control to the dash like the F150. It's already prewired, just include the switch if one is already paying good money for the tow package!
  8. FX4 Payload

Hm. My 2019 XLT Supercrew FX4 is 1463 lb. Ford must have made a typo lol.
  9. FX4 Payload

Per Ford's website, XLT Supercrew FX4 package has a payload of 1,609 lb:
  10. Recommended tires for a 2019 Ranger for mixed use?

I've actually never been of the chalk method. Tires deform for differing conditions and speeds. For example, if you dial in your psi with chalk, the speed that you optimized your pressure to is whatever speed you were driving at in the parking lot.
  11. 285 70 17 Wildpeaks are on!!!

Instead of all the keyboard warrior bickering, would it have been so hard to have a decent conversation, maybe like the following? "Please share data on the effect of the crash bars for the Ranger" "Well there's no public data available on with and without crash bar for the Ranger, but here are...
  12. 285 70 17 Wildpeaks are on!!!

I do, in the same size. But my tires are wearing out on the inside, not outside. They were wearing evenly for about 15k miles, and then I got an alignment and tire rotation, and they suddenly started wearing out unevenly on the inside. Got another alignment and rotation 5k miles later when I...
  13. Recommended tires for a 2019 Ranger for mixed use?

I have Falken Wildpeaks in 265/70R17 (so one size up from stock). On and off road performance is amazing, absolutely no complaints in any terrain or condition. And when you account for price, you just can't beat it. BUT. I'm starting to wonder if they don't last as long as other tires. I have...
  14. Alignment issues at 12k miles

I've had similar issues too. I have 265/60R17 Falkens, which is same OD as yours, and I also had feathering issues on the inside of the tires on both left and right. Here's a quick timeline on my tires and alignments: 15k miles: Received Falkens, installed with alignment 25k miles: Rotated...
  15. Fox 2.0 in all Flavors at Stage 3

Any impressions on the ride and handling for all three?

  17. Why Are Some Tacoma Owners Like This?

This thread is turning just as bad as Taco forums......
  18. Tremor Tire Rub

My rubbing isn't actually even on the crash ribs. It's on the mount for the crash bars on the frame. Not sure why, thought at first I thought it was maybe a single tire that was slightly out of spec and poked out a bit more but I've rotated my tires and had two alignments since, but the rubbing...
  19. Tremor Tire Rub

I don't have Tremor, but I do have the same tire size. I do experience the smallest amount of tire rub at full lock on the passenger side. That being said, the Tremors are slightly lifted and it's a stock truck. I would take it to the dealer to get it dialed out.
  20. Ford Maverick competition, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz

I used to be a "trucks are dumb, you have less lockable space than a SUV. Just get an SUV." kinda guy. I bought the Ranger because I wanted midsize body on frame and there aren't many body on frame SUVs on the market/they didn't fit my needs. Within a few months of picking up the truck, I picked...
