So I pulled the trigger on this and my shop (OK4WD.com) is going to order it for me. My rep wasn't crazy about drilling into a coated bumper, but I think I've won him over. The next big question is clipping the sensors in to the new sheet metal. I'm totally ok with silicone, my rep HATED that...
I'm giving this some serious thought. what do we really think about drilling this for sensors? In the gallery of the FP website, there are a bunch of pics that show this bumper with ACC & sensors.
I called ARB Tech support, and the guy couldn't find anything on why the sensors were a bad idea...
I work a job where 16 hr days are common. Driving tired is a reality of life for me. I will never buy another vehicle without the full suit of sensors & acc ever again. That stuff really works and if I'm being honest with myself, there are 2 people alive today because of it. (Not including me)...
My supervisor is all knowing & all seeing.
That said, she sent me off into the last big snow storm by handing me a lunch bag, a coffee mug, and saying..... "Don't forget your traction boards"
I AM a lucky man! ;)
Benny,
On the Ford performance site, there are pictures of a red Ranger (in the gallery) with the bumper where the sensors and acc module are clearly visible though the description says not compatible. Can the bumper be modded?
Also, can your dealership do the install?
Thanks
Gotta say....
There's nothing about a pool of water that makes me wanna say "Hey, I'd really like to drive through that!" All things considered though, I'd also really hate to wait days to get an alternator after I do.
I suspect that the cover will end up in my shed out back. As soon as I can pay down my card a little, I'm gonna do the Decked drawer system. That retractable cover is pricey and there are other things I wanna get with whatever cash I can divert to the truck.
Except...
Negative responses are all from first hand info. They are not the commentary of people who just read something somewhere and rehashed that unsourced opinion.
I called Alternatorparts.com. The gentleman who answered said that he only did Ranger alternators up to 2016. (was there a 2016 ranger?) Anyway, he said 2019+ was too new.
Wow guys, so much to unpack here. Thank you so much. A few thoughts:
I'd been a non-car guy most of my life. My vehicle was a mere conveyance and I never took any interest in car related stuff. Then I got my Ranger... Then I took an off road driving class. Now I'm totally consumed with all...
I had gotten a little off topic in another thread so I thought I'd move it here...
For all the reasons discussed in other threads, I thought I would order up an alternator now, before it becomes a problem at the wrong time and in the wrong place.
The parts guy I was talking to said there were...
Not to blaspheme but...
Had there been a 2 liter ecoboost (like there was supposed to be) for Transit Connect with the 4K tow package, I'd have likely not moved to the Ranger. My original motivation revolved around Tow capacity. If there was an FX4 package a la Maverick, I'd have been the...
I had actually seen Ethan's video a while ago. (Before finding this thread) I've been thinking about buying an alternator for my FX4 so I'd have it if ever I should need. The parts guy I was talking to said there were two. Mine, for around $300ish, and the Tremor for around $500ish. I'm guessing...
A while back, I had purchased a set of plastic trim removal tools from Autozone. I'm no expert in this area but the tools made it much easier for me. I also watched a bunch of good youtube videos...
Let me start by saying it was the FX4 shocks that I replaced. Leaving the 4x4 shop's parking lot, I turned left. The second I hit the gas, I noticed. The front end dive that I had become accostomed to was different. It wasn't gone, but I wouldn't expect that on a truck. What it was, was more...
