I created a nice little 3d case to hold the ESP8266, and a couple of mounting tabs to zip tie the units in place. These will be uploaded on Thingiverse.
I've decided to go the wireless route and I have the circuit working 100%. Not wanting to mess with the clock spring in my truck, I found an interesting link to put paddles into a Dodge using a wireless circuit and Mercedes paddles. The circuits don't seem to be available anymore. BUT that...
Good to know... Yeah I thought it might be nice to know more stats when pulling loads over hills, stress. But I'm not sure what you would do. Pull over and let things cool down?
I notice with a boost gauge I am more aware of boost levels when driving through the mountains.
They are pretty small, but should work for me. 34mm screens which is much smaller than the standard 52mm gauges, but I kind like that. And since this is all programed I can flash them in colors to warn of issues. IE: RED background for over temp etc. And they are cheap to make. I'm using a ODB2...
I did a dash tray mount for 4 gauges... But I think it needs something else? Maybe a tray on top? (it's only 40mm tall)
Angled towards the driver and curved to fit the dash tray.
It's a nice feature to have when parked, though to be honest I would rather someone hit my mirror than the door skin.
I just don't understand Ford's thinking... Lets go partway on giving folks folding mirrors. Penny pinchers?
I bought a Autel Powerscan tool a while back and this thing is great for finding wires. I didn't get any vehicle specific info with mine. As I recall power/ground and 2 triggers, One to your unlock wire (unfold the mirrors) and one to your lock wire (from the mirrors). The manual button also...
Working on a Digital Cluster that matches the Ranger's style. Clock is working.
Finding the FONT that was close enough was one of the toughest things.
I'm going to do BOOST (with a peak hold function), Oil Pressure, Water Temp and I think I can grab IC temp.
Plan is to 3d print a cluster to...
Update on my Dash project.. I wanted a way to store my phone out of the sun on the Dash tray. I added a couple of 52mm gauge pods for a boost gauge and ???? angled towards the driver. I matched the curve of the tray (This doesn't replace the tray but sits right into it).
Rendered Image...
I think most options the Crash bars have to go. They are real fun to get out... But rewarding when they are gone. I had a slight rub after going to my 275/55-R20's and I replaced the crash bars with the ReadyLift set. It all seemed easy enough, (I did NOT remove my wheels to do it). Sawzall and...
I did the Ford Performance and would do it again given the options. I felt like the Ford Tune keeps the parameters within safe levels while giving a great bang for the buck. I have always only used Super Unleaded fuel anyway so there was no real downside for me. The difference is pretty amazing...
You might try resetting your iphone network settings. I have had to do this once and it cured all my issues.
Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
I'm starting a new thread here for folks that are interested in the mod. It is more of a hardware mod than forscan or anything else.
The idea: Put paddles on the steering wheel of the Ranger from a borrowed Explorer wheel and wire it up.
The Donner wheel will be from a 2019 Explorer with...
