@OP
I wouldn't blame you for going Wrangler. Truth is, the solid front & rear axles are just better off-road. More articulation. Granted, the Bronco will be better on road. . . .
Although I would argue that Ford does prioritize customer orders (I got my Ranger in 8 weeks exactly), the Bronco...
I think the ZR2 is in a different league, though. Remote dampers, and it's a bit bigger than the Ranger.
The suspension setup alone would cost 5k to buy aftermarket.
Great information, I thought GM's midsized units had a auto-locker option.
Torsen has the benefit of "no wear," other than the diff itself failing as there aren't clutches but worms gears.
Finally, I have head of all sorts of diffs grenading when stressed. I think there might be a greater...
That's fair. GM full-size trucks and SUVs frequently come with auto lockers. I guess I am accustomed to the Torsen limited slip in my ATS and how I don't have to think about its operation.
I know limited slips have serious disadvantages when off-roading, though.
When would you need to spin one wheel rear? In other words, when is the automatic locking not useful?
I've seen certain competitors with the auto lockers and it usually activates in less than one wheel rotation. Even the Ranger's rear locker isn't instant, the pin has to find its hole to lock...
Semantics aside, I guess I'll leave the auto start/stop enabled until we have a definite answer.
Although I can appreciate accuracy, I will say that the BMS is likely controlled by a BCM so at best BMS is just a more precise descriptor than BCM.
I had the benefit of X-plan, but not Z sadly. I have to also wonder whether many dealers would take Z plan given current market conditions? The dealer I picked sells Rangers the same day they arrive.
Options are: 4wd, rear locker, carpet floors, tow package, 101A and STX package. If I remember 4x4 added almost 4k (like 3,850) to the price.
It would've cost about $1,200 more to get an XLT which would've just meant a touchscreen versus the STX's basic 5" non-touch SYNC screen.
Honestly, for $50. I probably wouldn't open the tailgate often enough for it to matter. Most of the mods are going to be safety (headlights), and trailer brake controller. . . Or comfort (tint).
My ATS has a damped glovebox, but the Ranger doesn't. I don't mean to trivialize the issue but some...
8 weeks, no complaint ;)
Yours may/may not be scheduled as a 2021. I think the 21'MY was balanced out on 9/30?
I think my configuration 4wd, crew cab, STX was high on the list for scheduling?
