  1. Counterfeit struts from Walmart?

Walmart is getting into the same business model as Amazon. You buy from them thinking it's coming from them, but they ain't. Return them. They should, or at least on Amazon it will say where it's being shipped/sold from. caveat emptor
  2. Synthetic oil.

I use what my mechanic uses and tell him to use full synth. My personal opinion is it really doesn't matter as long as it has oil in it.
  3. 19-23 Ranger recall (along with other models)

My VIN still shows no recalls, but I saw something about letters going out by July 28, so maybe it hasn't gotten in the system yet. I'm also curious if they are just checking if Sync is updated? Don't know if the cam is controlled via sync or it's a firmware update for the cam itself...
  4. 19-23 Ranger recall (along with other models)

What I just saw included the 19-23 rangers. I'll see if I can find it again. ETA: Here it is. ford recall 25S72. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/ford-recalls-200-000-vehicles-in-us-over-malfunction-risk/ar-AA1HQuw9?ocid=winp2fptaskbarhover&cvid=0d98fd3c7e144912bf6f3a929858d502&ei=19
  5. 19-23 Ranger recall (along with other models)

Just saw there is a recall for the 5Gs for a software problem with the backup cameras. Looks like a bunch of other models also included. Maybe this is the problem with some folks losing the camera.
  6. Ability to turn off auto stop/start

I've seen this before, and it just feels wrong. Use forscan to disable it, or plug a night light in. Don't unplug the battery monitor or what ever it is because you get arsed with, ASS.
  7. Ranger Plug-in Hybrid

I read about this some months ago, but details weren't available. In the article is says the Lightning is locked in battle with the Tesla. If by 'battle' they mean the jock beating up the nerd, then OK. I don't think the Lightning is flying off the lots, but I also don't think someone who...
  8. F-150 Loaner Vehicle

If it's a brand new engine, it may get better over time. When my truck was new, the MPG was around 21, just judging by the dash reading. Now at 28K, it reads around 24. This isn't very scientific, but I seem to have gained 2-3 MPG over the 4 years I've had it.
  9. Maximum rpm range

I think I hit the 6ish range, once. Side note. In a 2003 BMW I had, I punched it and wasn't really paying attention. It hit the max, I assume, and throttled down. Not sure the Ranger would do that.
  10. Cycling sound

I'm not 100% sure, but I think someone mentioned it was the fuel pump? In any case, I just think it's some of the sync or other electronics waking up.
  11. Ability to turn off auto stop/start

Personally I don't mind ASS, except when it's only off for 5 seconds when a light changes, then not so much. It goes off for 1.5-2 minutes and then will start back up. I don't know the duration, but sometimes at a long light it starts back up before the light changes.
  12. Ability to turn off auto stop/start

It will 'eventually update' automatically*, but it takes a while to download so it may take several parking events for it to get all the data. I have always just updated manually using syncupdater from cyan labs. *Some people get it to work, but others not. If you ordered the truck, there was...
  13. What the Ranger should have gotten in the first place!

The scab has even less storage. A little under the jump seats, and nothing else. I keep everything in a swing box in the bed, which I like a lot. Don't get me started on what else it should have. I've come to terms with it, and like the truck overall.
  14. Roadside/Emergency OE Scissor-Jack Placement

I used the scissor jack recently, and the manual wasn't very helpful identifying the placement, so used a 2x4 block and put the jack on the frame. I had a old 'professional' floor jack that my brother found in the middle of the road, and it lived in my garage for 25 years. When I went to use...
  15. Trade my 2019 for a 2025?

With no further comment, check with Carvana. They offer stupid prices for *some* used vehicles.
  16. Tow mode all the time?

I use tow in when I'm in the mountains of WV where our retirement home is. It helps with engine breaking going down hill. Otherwise, I use drive, and sometimes sport if I need a ya ya. But, my transmission still acts normal, so, there is that.
  17. Quarts of ULV per Fitzstick Graduation?

I do use the cloth method, and can sort of see the level. The only problem is the excess fluid on the stick makes that method hard as well. Cleaning the stick and then sliding it back down the tube distributes more fluid... I just have to try to determine the solid fluid mark on the rag...
  18. Quarts of ULV per Fitzstick Graduation?

Short story. I installed the stick, read a high value, tried to drain using a pump and only got out a few quarts, cold. Added in 15oz lubeguard and enough fluid to get be back up to *some* level. When warm, I still can't get a good reading, but then using MBS recommendation to read the stick...
  19. Tow/Haul Trailer Profile no where to be found

hmm. I have a 2020 so it may be different, but mine doesn't ask for weight. It just wants to know the length so it can adjust the blis detection range. I think it also shows up somewhere in the dash menus, but don't recall, I don't tow very often.
  20. Tow/Haul Trailer Profile no where to be found

I don't think there is a 'profile' (I could be wrong). When ever you attach a trailer it will ask you the length. That's all there is, as far as I know.
