Up front, I found a nice easy place to mount my old Rigid Dually's that I pulled off my F250. There are holes in the steel bumper for the plastic pin-clips that hold the plastic bumper trim in place, which made for a perfect mounting location. Still need to get them wired up - my Lightforce...
Any of you that installed these boxes - did the installation instructions call out the mounting bolt size/thread that screw into the threaded holes Ford builds into the bed sides?
I want to use one of the threaded holes to install my old bed extender.
Hey Rockweiler, did the install instructions for your swing-out toolboxes happen to call out the mounting bolt size/threads?
I want to install my bed extender from my F250 (it's adjustable width, and I can get it narrowed down to fit my Ranger) and want to utilize one of the threaded holes to...
I have not road tested yet, but did driveway test it, and braking seems to be working fine - both the signal coming from the pedal and the signal coming from the manual brake override lever. It gives me a real time visual bar graph and numerical braking percentage of the trailer brakes on the...
They'll squat with a good enough load. Just my 2200 lb. flatbed alone brought the back end down 2". I'm sure without the weight distribution hitch, my 7,000 lb trailer/tractor combo would have dropped it another few inches, and had the nose up 2-3".
But I'm also a firm believer in weight...
Right at 7,000 lbs.
That's going to be a very rare haul.
More common hauls will be one of my Mustangs to a rally, show, the track. Those loads are more in the 5,800-6,000 range.
It'd be nice if Lightforce would return phone calls. I tried ordering the switch fascia and some custom switches, but it kept sending me to the AU website without keeping the fascia in the cart.
Left a couple of messages to the US group and no return calls.
Kind of pissing me off.
Here is my heaviest setup. 325 miles on the odometer, and all loaded up and ready for it's first tow trip.
Just Kidding. I will wait till I have 1,000 miles on the Ranger before I start towing heavy. I was getting the hitch set up after installing the new brake controller.
Today I installed a Tuson DirecLink Trailer Brake Controller, model DL-100. I had originally planned on installing the RedArc, but couldn't get past the little button and the different colored LEDs, after towing for years with controllers that had the information screens - I'm getting old and...
So, no need to worry about the height difference between the bed rails and the front of the bed when you buy an ARE topper. They designed the step into the topper rail.
It's just about an inch. They make different foam tape thicknesses, believe it or not. I'm not too worried about my topper shop being able to deal with it. It's possible that the topper, or cap, manufacturer, may have also addressed it. I'll know in the next week or 2.
All the Ford pickup beds are like that, & have been for years. The installer just doubles up the foam tape across the front to make up for the difference.
CX is an older design with a recess that the windows are cut into. V has the windows cut right into the sides with no indentation. To me, the V has a slightly cleaner look. I don't like the way the windows don't quite seem to match up with the recess - kind of makes it look cheap. My current TW...
I've beat the crap out of 2 AREs on 2 different Super Duties, my brother has beat the crap out of his MX on his Tacoma rock crawler. That's why I'm buying another ARE.
I know a few folks that have had some issues ( leaks, cracks) on Leer, and around here, they're even more expensive than ARE.
