Alright! After taking my truck into a different dealership and explaining what happened, they cracked it open and immediately found metal shavings in the trans pan.
Got me approved for a brand new transmission from Ford and within 6 days of drop off I got my truck back!
I can finally drive with...
From my research, its one of the first things to come out of the trans during teardown. He also said they have to do full teardowns to inspect every piece for damage so he definitely handled it.
I am now not getting a response from the Ford rep after asking them to escalate this issue
Not the response I was hoping for from Ford:
"
Hello,
I hope all is well. This is Lucie with Ford Motor Company. I just wanted to send an email over as I do understand we followed through with a feedback case pertaining to your dealership. I do see you gave a call in and spoke with my...
That was definitely the most helpful customer service rep I have ever dealt with. I was shocked right from the get go how eager she was to help. Ford rules
Opened a case with Ford and the rep I spoke with is reaching out via email and calling the dealership to advocate that they complete the repair correctly
Just met with my service tech and the service manager, this is what they told me:
They can't just replace parts that haven't failed or Ford will not pay them for the parts, so they can't replace the CDF drum because it wasn't where the snap ring failure occurred.
The failed snap ring was in the...
I have a feeling that's the story I am going to get tomorrow. Seems impossible with how stringent they have to be with corporate to make sure they get paid for their warranty work
My god. It's on the first page.
I've got it printed out and I've emailed the GM.
I'll be going in tomorrow to get the correct process started.
I cannot believe this
This was the response I sent her:
"
Yes, that is related to the drum which is supposed to be updated to the new version to avoid the snap-ring issue.
"The primary difference between JL3Z-7H351-A and JL3Z-7H351-B lies in the fact that JL3Z-7H351-B is an updated version of the hub assembly...
This was the response I got:
"Ok so its in your story on what failed. It is the front support snap ring that failed."
From my understanding the snap ring does not fit into the hub correctly which required a new model of drum to be made?
I reached out via text, they never answer the phones anymore after being given the ability to communicate over text.
I've still got 2500 miles on this warranty and I am going to make sure that trans is solid before that warranty is up
Took them 37 days to do this rebuild.
These are the notes provided. Wondering if this is the common issue that causes transmission failure in the 10r80 or if it was just a fluke issue with the snapring not installed right or coming loose. From looking around it sounds like 10R80s have weak snap...
