I agree with the the first part of your description. I don't agree with it deciding the best for me. Ford has a lot of work to do to get there. The most adaptive automatic transmission I have experienced was the DSG is my 2013 VW GTI. It was able, for the most part, to decide what was best...
The 10R80 is not the quietest transmission, that's for sure. It does get quieter as it get some miles on it but you can still hear it especially with the window down. If it is slipping get it checked out. They are know to be a little shy on transmission fluid from the factory in some cases.
I haven't gotten one yet. Had a field service engineer get involved in my shudder issue. It's better but not gone. They don't have a fix if all the angles are good and it still shudders. Once they tell me it is as good as it gets I will get a one piece ordered.
If you have any questions about a one piece driveshaft, email or call Shawn Woods at Tom Woods Driveshaft. He will take time to explain how they engineer a shaft.
One press is sufficient to lock and set the alarm. If you wait three seconds you can press it again without a horn honk. I believe it is documented in the owners manual.
Were you getting a lurch on upshifts? My truck has been doing this for a couple months. If I take it very easy on the gas it seems to behave but if I get on it the shifts are abrupt and sport mode makes it even worse.
