  1. Fuel in oil

Towing a light <3500lb load around town or thru the mountains, across multiple states? My towing is the latter, I’m thinking short trip towing would still dilute the fuel with oil. How do we know the engineers didn’t design the 2.3 EcoBoost with this in kind? Maybe it’s supposed to dilute the...
  2. Transmission slipping and rough shifts

I wouldn’t necessarily be concerned but mine is consistently flaring going up steep hills and has just started doing the “hard shift at 5-10mph” even when cruising along at low throttle position until warmed up. I’m more concerned about the 200-300rpm “slip” when it shifts but was hoping some...
  3. Report your MPG

Awful MPG when towing through any sort of hilly terrain or mountains. I’ve chalked it up to “it is what it is”.
  4. Anyone else's music occasionally skip when connected to Bluetooth/phone??

Try playing a WAV file and disable any settings on your phone that may add latency (audio processing, ReplayGain, EQ, etc). Mine still skips and the only thing I have on is Sound Check which is auto level control… Oddly enough mine never skips when using Bluetooth with another car, but it’s...
  5. Fuel in oil

Am I the only one that has the opposite? Go on a 1,000 mile round trip and it actually burns off some oil when towing. So far after 6k I’ve had to put 1/2 quart in…
  6. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

I read the FP warranty paperwork and it says any damage caused by the FP tune will be covered by FP if the New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover, hence it makes it sound like they can deny a claim under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty due to the FP tune…
  7. Anyone else's music occasionally skip when connected to Bluetooth/phone??

Happens to me even on files saved to the phone, so Bluetooth interference is most likely the culprit. The phone can’t go “back in time” and re-send what was lost, it is a stream, just like OTA or Satellite TV. So if data is lost it just continues on, hence the skipping.
  8. Fuel in oil

I think short trip driving on any car will show some fuel dilution, even Honda 4 cylinders I’ve seen raise the oil level and then drop once a long trip is done. I do regular 1,000 mile round trips (when going to jobsites for work) so my shortest trips are like 30 miles round trip, lol…
  9. Trim levels

Yes, did you decide to go from a 2022 back a year until you get your 2023? There aren’t many differences between the years, at least significant ones IMO
  10. Trailer brake controller for 2022 Ford Ranger Tremor

You shouldn’t, but technically any modification from stock can void a warranty claim if not installed properly.
  11. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

That makes sense, however if your 10R80 loses an output shaft or your 2.3 EcoBoost throws a rod and they say “the added boost from your aftermarket calibration” pushed the motor/trans past its limits, beyond the design capabilities, it’s gonna be hard to prove that the tune did NOT cause the issue…
  12. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

Since many have claimed the FP warranty keeps their powertrain warranty, why don’t they go to their dealer and ask what happens when a non-OEM (as in, Ford original tune) is installed. I’m told “vehicle calibrations that are aftermarket” can void the 5/60k powertrain and yes, the FP tune is an...
  13. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

Geez, the way that legalese reads even a Ford Performance Tune would then be considered an “alteration” as it’s a Ford branded modification but from a different Ford Motor Company brand/division!
  14. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

I can’t remember which vehicle it was on now, but one of my warranty booklets said “lift kits and tire size modifications” are excluded unless approved by the vehicle manufacturer. So even if the part failed due to poor installation, I’d be out of luck. Hoping this isn’t the case with the Ford...
  15. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

Make sure you get something in writing. When I had the trans rebuilt on another vehicle, I got a “Limited Warranty: GM Remanufactured Engines and Transmissions” warranty booklet along with a vehicle service printout stating what was done when and when the warranty ended. It even showed...
  16. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

With work sending me to multiple states to do field work with 1,000 mile round trips, I’m hoping to hit the 100k mark before my 5 year anniversary on the truck! Sid, a few of us are coming…lol you’ve got competition!
  17. Parking brake boot.....Genuine Pleather

Not too happy I have to spend $50 to upgrade the truck on a part that was defective from the date of delivery, just didn’t notice at the time of sale, but it is what it is..
  18. Tow longevity

Thanks for the detailed response - glad to know there’s a little “extra” built into the design of the truck so towing at GVWR all across the country shouldn’t be an issue. I have towed, driven on 1,000 mile trips (2x 500 miles per day), gone off road and used 4-LO and my oil life monitor still...
  19. Differentials and Transfer Case Fluid Change

Mine was dark at 5k so I think that is normal? Every diff I’ve drained (even at low mileage) came out dark, same for the Ranger.
  20. Tow longevity

Phil, should any fluids be changed preemptively before a cross country tow? Some hills in CO such as Vail Pass at 104F ambient really raised the temps in other vehicles I’ve owned, is it advised to swap coolant and ATF out prior to such a tow? I know the manual says to use synthetic diff fluid...
