  1. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

When the unit fails after say, 95-160k miles, are you OK with footing the bill if there is a design flaw with the transmission? Many of us, myself included, rely on this vehicle to go to project sites, out of state, many 100’s (to thousands) of miles a trip. If the 10R80 decided to go out...
  2. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Not shifting for a whole city block (stuck between gears) is not normal. It would increase revs but slow down until it “caught” a gear before. If that is, my “abnornal“ 10R80 is now functioning properly after a re-learn. Something in the software is making these shift worse and worse over...
  3. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Also drained and filled the rear end. It’s been trouble free so far, I’ve got about 500 miles+ in the past week and zero issues.
  4. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

After the re-learn, I have not experienced a single slip, bang, shudder, or “what just rear ended me” feeling like prior to the service. Already drove a full tank (450 miles) with zero issues.
  5. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

The transmission re-learn seems to have solved the issue.
  6. Tranny not programmed differently for Tremors?

My Tremor has done this from day 1 so I assumed it’s normal.
  7. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Yes…no codes, but the rear end fluid level was low. So they drained it, took the cover off to inspect for damage, let it sit overnight, then re-installed the cover and fluid. Also reset the adaptives as it’s “grabby” in the lower gears and shift points are back to the day I test drove it...
  8. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

I think they are throwing darts at it, or playing the “try a few things until it resolves the problem” game as they admitted they don’t really know what’s the issue. Reset the trans adaptives and cleaned the rear end up assuming that would fix it. I am not a Ford mechanic so I will let them...
  9. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Dealer did a visual inspection, opened up the rear end (and drained all gear oil, presumably thinking something was broken) and filled the rear end with 80W-90, all on Ford’s dime. They also reset the computer as my clock, radio fader settings, and dash light settings were back to center or...
  10. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Well, the transmission itself might be used in a lot of Ford’s fleet. But are we sure the programming, torque converter size, and rear axle are the same too? A lower numerical rear axle or higher stall TC can both affect the way this thing shifts, plus the software… Trying to get an...
  11. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

It just took mine a whole city block to regain propulsion, but went away when warm, so I’m going to have to leave it overnight at the dealer so they can diagnose on a cold start as it doesn’t do this when warm.
  12. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

No, I do not use Sport mode. Even then, if you tap the shifter + or - it would show a gear selection on the display. My 10R80 is actually stuck between gears, as in it tries to shift and the revs go up but the shift doesn’t complete and the computer pulls timing so the throttle pedal has less...
  13. 10R80 transmission “stuck” between gears

Good evening, My 2022 4x4 Tremor with stock tires and gearing has developed an interesting transmission issue: it seems to get “stuck” between gears at times and no amount of throttle (gentle application or heavy throttle) seems to get it out of this state until the trans decides to apply power...
  14. Transmission slipping and rough shifts

Mine is consistently slipping and banging when driven gently to the point where even Cruise control doesn’t produce clean shifts. I called the local dealer for an appointment…booked for weeks! Hope some of you have better luck with getting the issues resolved and in a timely manner.
  15. Very Strange Transmission Issues. Hard Shifts, Slip and one very weird problem.

Regarding the test some had suggested: mine just blinks the gear indicator when you hit “+” in sport mode unless you are above a certain speed. It won’t shift to “2” when rolling unless throttle pressure is applied. Is this normal?
  16. Theory on fuel in oil.

Correcting the error in the above post: Just realized that was a ~5,300 mile run going from state to state (5 x 1,000 mile trips) vs 1,530 miles of city commuting (15 miles one way). Oil never got above 190F going to work, or 203F coming back. The runs in the middle were mixed city and...
  17. Theory on fuel in oil.

My Blackstone reports (on any car) look terrible if I don’t get up to 212F oil temp on a regular basis. I literally have reports that show 5,700 miles of highway driving with better results than 1,500 miles of short trip driving. Once I cross the 212F oil temp mark on a regular basis, my...
  18. Theory on fuel in oil.

Since we don’t have an oil temp gauge, hard to tell when it’s up to 212 (boiling temp) which takes approximately 35 miles of sustained highway driving in most vehicles I’ve owned, some even more (like the GMC 6.2L V8, which even half an hour at 55mph on country roads is still too short). All...
  19. My perfect Ranger with an imperfect transmission...

Mine has started becoming so inconsistent shifting from 1 to anything else that it feels like someone who can’t drive stick. Lurches forward, rear end bangs, and it either flares before or just delays the whole shift and then slams hard. 10% throttle at most and just crawling speeds. I think...
  20. 10R80 Transmission

Since mine gets driven on anything from 1,000 mile round trip travels to 30 mile (one way to office) commutes, I think after 6k my 10R80 has enough time to learn. However, it is still as inconsistent as Day 1 and the hard shifting and slipping on the same drive cycle makes me think that’s how...
