Ok, here she is! Delivered last week
2020 Lariat FX4, no other options except WP paint
first things we did...
• Got it a bit dirty
• Washed it
• Pulled off the FX4 decals (like the cleaner look, to my eyes the decal is err cheesy)
• Put a coat of NuFinish on it
Next week, dealer will add
•...
Love the look and capability of the Bronco, but even if available there would be good chance we'd end up with Ranger. The bed was a good part of reason we got a truck.
Something else in the mix here is the rumoured Bronco PHEV plugin hybrid. We'd really been waiting for an EV/Plugin-in offroad...
I was thinking this too! White is hardest paint, thinking that even if the tri coat got scratched it would likely just scratch down to the white layer which would be almost impossible to see. Traded in our black flex and lived in fear of hitting branches on our narrow back roads - not to mention...
btw, I think the extended cab looks really cool in white platinum. have a family or would have gone that route.I read they don’t even offer that combo in Canada.
In my case I was looking for a Lariat within 500km of me that had the fewest number of options except for FX4, and this was it. I would have forced myself to take any colour if it meant saving a couple of thousand on running boards and other stuff I didn’t need, but this one only had one option...
I love it. Nothing against Oxford White, I like plain white, but it makes me think of a refrigerator. ? The Platinum is a bit warm, but not so much as to look beigy. It’s a pearlescent so it doesnt look like a metallic, it isn’t shiny like that, more luminous.
I’m no pricing expert, but I think most used buyers are pretty aware of model year changes. If youre selling the truck in say 2024 and someone sees your truck with same or fewer miles than an equivalent 2020, I think practically speaking you won’t have any trouble selling it for close to same...
The way I figure It, all things being equal, the stickier tires are gonna wear quicker. There is no free lunch. So I'm ok with a tire that wears more quickly if it works well.
Nope, seems like those are medium / heavy duty?
These are the tires I was referring to. AT/W s. I think they must have discontinued them, but I saw some on clearance at Canadian Tire so maybe worth a look.

The issue isn't $$ so much, after all you are really just sharing the wear across two sets. It's the fact that winters just don't do great from what I can tell off-road. Except the very special Cooper AW/S which it looks like they don't make anymore.
This was probably an exaggeration come to think of it. I should have said that I lose that total confidence after a couple of seasons. They still work but they don't have that same lock on the ice that they do in the first two.
Yeah exactly my experience, especially with the softer crazy good ice tires like Blizzaks. Not planning to put a lot of miles on the truck, but I think the issue is simply losing tread depth and the sipes just don't have enough depth anymore.
FYI, a good thread from Tacoma owners on the Coopers. A lot of folks saying they are good for first season or two and then not, but that's pretty consistent with snow tires as well.

In my experience you only see really awful wear on "real" snows when it is really hot, i.e. around 30 C. Where I live you could end up with conditions where you need for snows from early November through early April, so almost half the year. In fact usually when I buy winters for car I really...
