Yes, the German cars are pricy to service. I only use the Mercedes dealer for warranty work. For regular maintenance I use a private garage that specializes in Mercedes. They are @ 25%-30% cheaper than the dealer, but still noticeably more expensive than what maintenance costs on the Ranger.

I too liked the 22RE. I would have to say that the 4.0L v6 was pretty solid and well as the 4.7L v8. I owned two different Tacoma's with the 4.0L v6 and my only complaint with that motor was the fuel economy. I like my Ranger but there are days I wish I had kept my 2011 Tacoma.
