$8100 below MSRP does sound tempting. What are the dealer fees? I just had my Ford dealer ask if I would like to trade my 2021 FX4 in on a new one. I didn't even bother to ask what they had in mind. I just told him NO!
Wow, this paints a very gloomy picture. Even the GM twins are slightly more than 2x the Ranger in sales. Exiting a market where there are 444k sales at the end of Q3 seems to be a dumb idea. Time to fix the problem.
I agree, these cars should not be as expensive to repair as the dealers charge. One thing I have seen with the German cars is that there is more you have to take apart to repair them. Replacing the battery on my sons BMW 335 is easily an hour job. It is buried in the rear of the car and you have...
Yes, the German cars are pricy to service. I only use the Mercedes dealer for warranty work. For regular maintenance I use a private garage that specializes in Mercedes. They are @ 25%-30% cheaper than the dealer, but still noticeably more expensive than what maintenance costs on the Ranger.
This is a very good idea. It may come to this. When I took my truck in for the actuator clicking, I had an iPhone recording, but the service advisor would not even listen to it.
My truck is actually from Sanderson Ford. Sanderson has not seen the truck for this issue. Ford of North Scottsdale was the dealer that said they could not reproduce the HVAC issue.
This is my biggest concern with my extended warranty. I already know I have an issue with an actuator and tried to get that fixed once. Now I'm just waiting for it to totally fail so at least they can no longer tell me they cannot reproduce the issue. When they finally agree to fix the issue, my...
Is it just me, or is this just crazy? For something that obviously does not make the vehicle unsafe to drive, why would they recommend leaving it with them for a month before the schedule says they would be able to look at it? First, it creates a huge burden on the customer. Second, it is...
My original battery lasted @ 18 months. It was replaced by Ford under warranty. I am in Arizona and the heat is very hard on batteries. When the battery started declining, the first thing I noticed was that the auto start-stop stopped working. Then I started getting warnings on the FordPass...
I'm no mechanic and I changed all 4 plugs in 20 to 30 minutes. A Ford tech can probably do it in close to 10 minutes. Just have the private garage do it.
This would perfectly describe the Ford 3.0L v6 I had in my 2000 Mazda B3000 truck. That truck could not get out of its own way. At the time I owned the Mazda, I also owned a v8 Explorer. The Mazda B-Series/Ranger with a 5.0L v8 would have easily got the same fuel economy and been awesome for...
I agree and there will probably be a few instances where they claim they cannot reproduce the issue too just to extend the painful process.
At this time the only issue I have with my Ranger is an actuator in the HVAC system that keeps clicking. Right before my 3/36 warranty expired, I took it...
I too liked the 22RE. I would have to say that the 4.0L v6 was pretty solid and well as the 4.7L v8. I owned two different Tacoma's with the 4.0L v6 and my only complaint with that motor was the fuel economy. I like my Ranger but there are days I wish I had kept my 2011 Tacoma.
So, the trans is being pulled for the 3rd time? I hear you about being glad you purchased the extended warranty, but that may be where the issue lies. Obviously, the dealer is not fixing the real issue, so the warranty is not working out too well. I have the Ford ESP on mine too, but I am...
Glad your okay. Was it still drivable after the accident? Probably need to wait to see what hidden damage the body shop finds. I assume the front end, complete power train and interior are in good shape. If it has low miles, there is probably a pretty good salvage value to it, which could lead...
Interesting point. I am not sure having trailer brakes would stop any trailer sway, but they would certainly help put the rig under control. Not sure what would happen if you were to lock the trailer brakes up and create a skid situation. That may not good. In a trailer sway situation, the...
I just completed the electric brake install on my utility trailer this evening. It was a pretty easy install, but it did take some time. Running the wires to the drums and converting the trailer from a 4 pin to a 7 pin plug was the most time consuming part of the installation. Hope to do a test...
I have not been following the reliability or issues with the new models (Ranger/Colorado/Tacoma). I guess I'll have to read up on it and see what is going on. The way I look at it is that my Ranger only has 37k miles on it, has never left me stranded, does everything I need it to do, and is paid...
