Fair enough, you were inquiring about something you already knew the answer to.
I agree with you on the Delphi AC compressors. The one in my Tacoma just failed and contaminated the AC system. Not happy about the bill, but not a whole lot I could do about it unless I wanted to drive around...
I guess the real question is does the Tacoma have a problem stopping. I have not heard of people complaining about one. My G2 Tacoma certainly doesn't. While I would rather have disk brakes, in reality it is not a big deal. Most people don't care as long as the vehicle stops in a...
The TurTrack looks like it is an Equal-i-zer copy. I have used the Equal-i-zer before and it is a pretty good hitch. IMO, the main downside to it is that it is a noisy hitch.
When I had by Hensley Hitch, I guess I got lucky when I found a used one locally. In the past, you could buy a used...
I would start researching the Hensley Hitch if I were you. Getting blown around by cars passing you is really dangerous. I have owned a number of travel trailers. If I was looking to buy a 33' long trailer, I would have purchased a 3/4-ton truck and a 5th wheel.
Rooster, interesting about the Toyota rust issues. That is not a problem out here in Arizona. I grew up in Chicago and rust was a huge problem there.
I drive a second-generation Tacoma V6 as my daily driver. The 4.0 has plenty of power. Sure I will take more power, but I am not willing to pay...
I think there is no doubt that Toyota has changed from what they used to be. Still, I don’t think I would be too concerned about them going down for the count. Business tends to be cyclical. Typically, when you get knocked down, you get back up. Just ask the Big 3 about that.
You are referring to the first gen Tacoma with the frame issues. That vehicle hasn’t been produced since 2004. Still, that disaster cost Toyota plenty.
Regarding the reliability comment, in Phoenix, I think I see more first gen Tacos on the road than previous generation Rangers. Also, I think...
For your trailer, I would get an Equal-i-zer hitch - https://www.equalizerhitch.com/. The built in sway control with the Equal-i-zer hitch hitch is a step up from the basic friction sway control add-on that many RV dealers like to sell. If you were towing a larger trailer, then recommendation...
A sub-10 second car would running @ 140+ mph at the end of the quarter mile. For a Ranger to keep up with a car that fast, up to 60 mph, would be very impressive. Last week, as I was driving home from work, I got to watch a guy have some fun with a McLaren. He actually pulled up along side of me...
Hi Phil,
I was a happy Ford customer. I had a 2017 Mustang GT that was rear-ended and totaled in March 2019. I do have to say that the Mustang did very well in the crash. I would have purchased a Ranger but at that time they were in short supply in the Phoenix area and dealers had too high of a...
The Ranger is definitely the fastest mid-sized truck out now. For a street racing truck, I really like the F-150 Ecoboost’s. One morning I was driving to work in my 2017 Mustang Gt and a F-150 Ecoboost pulls up next to me and starts taunting me. Since the road was clear I decided to go for it...
When I can’t fix the issue myself, I have always had better luck with a private garage. Too many dealer service horror stories lately – and some people wonder why I am so anti extended warranty.
Actually, I was alive for the whole run of the now legendary Pinto. When you work in the tech sector, 10 years is a long time. Don’t you think there may have been some improvements in hybrids over the past 10 years?
I have the 4.0 in my 2011 Tacoma. It is a much better performing motor than the current 3.5L v6. The 4.0 is also really reliable. The only negative that I have found is that the 4.0L is a thirsty motor.
Just because I do not agree with you that a stock Pinto would blow away a stock Supra of that era does not mean that I would not believe you that a SVO turbo powered Pinto would be really fast. I’ll bet that car was insane.
When I got out of college in the late 80’s I wanted to buy an SVO...
Interesting. I have read about this before. I have read about the super-fund level site in Canada and who knows what is going on in China. My question to you is did you even bother to read the article that you posted? The first article is pretty old. There is not a date on it, but it looks like...
