No, there was some minor changes to the 2022 Ranger which is what triggered this. From what I understand, very minor, but here we are. :-)

If it's approved CARB, it means they have found no negative impact in regards to smog/emissions, similar to the 19-21 Rangers, which are already California approved.

The approval of the tune has been in the works for 2 years. They just get backed up like any agency.

Not sure I follow. This tune is available from Ford and approved/warrantied as long as Ford or an approved installer performs the work. Just like with Fox performance shocks. Have Ford do the work and it's warrantied. Not sure I agree with you, but you clearly have some experience in this area...

There's two things in play here: Actual mapping changes, and in your example, it's a simple change of ownership. The latter should be free. As for mapping changes, what's typical for a modified map is in the range $50-$85. This is reasonable, sorry, but $300 is not, regardless of reputation...

A "tune" is nothing more than changing a few data points in spreadsheet. I doubt they are testing each and every "tune' for a said configuration.

Exactly. It's 30 seconds of effort on their end. I see this in the MC industry as well. I usually avoid outfits that do this.
