Im sure the 4wd is fine and that the clicking is coincidental.
Since it sounds like its her ranger now. Dare I say, maybe try to explain to her what lights comes on when in 4wd and the reason why its bad in the wrong conditions for in the future.
OP
Ford has been using liners made of some sort of felt for quite a few years.
I can tell you that rocks picked up by the tire and thrown into the well are way quieter than with a plastic liner.
Thats about the only thing ive noticed.
Since its in a obscure location any repair should be not easily noticeable if it makes you feel any better.
Worst case scenario tailgate is $800 + painting + $40 latch if it broke. $900-$950 tops for hard parts. Plus whatever painting costs.
Thats about what they go for (give or take a few g's for area variables). When I was looking 2 months ago it seemed like dealers werent too quick to make a move. I don't think they will come down much. Doesn't hurt to ask. If they won't come down, try and get them to throw in a tonneu cover...

Do the red! Everyones vehicle is a shade of black/grey/white. Get some color out there.
Don't get blue though. :puke: .......
Figured I would drop some info for anyone interested. Apologies for a long read, but we are already at 5 pages in this thread anyway.
I have been doing research all morning on how all this is supposed to work. After further confirming our finds with other reports of auto learning on other...
Interesting. I wonder why?
Just went out and checked mine to make sure I am not losing it, and it performs the way the manual states. (i.e. drls only come on in autolamp)
@slowmachine
Ok, so you got me questioning myself and I just went out and did my own testing.
This is front right tire air'd down some, I then swapped that tire with the rear left tire.
Then after the classic drive for XX time over XX mph, it switched to this.
Not gonna lie I was watching...
