These about one size larger than the factory SXT size. After the new year I will be tossing them out of the garage and going to the landfill.

Mice IN the truck...no bueno!
About eight years ago when I still had my '99 Tacoma, I began to smell at first what I thought was wet dog. It just so coincided with a rainy hike I had that day with my shepherd. But, then, as the days progressed it quickly grew worse and absolutely awful.
I...
Took the STX to Uwharrie Nat'l Park today in NC to hit a few of the "moderate" off-road trails. Teamed up with a couple jeeps who led this novice around a few sketchy tracks (to whom I am grateful!)
I don't really get out, if ever, on the trail to take photos but here's a gratuitous pic of the...
Interesting thread.
For starters: Congrats, OP, on the tires! (Vicarious tire boner). Been wanting to engorge enlarge my own to that size, but didn't want to bother with the necessary modifications.
I think the liability in removing the crash/intrusion bars is no greater than worrying if I'm...
*chuckle* Well, it's all very UN-scientific in my world but I'm glad it helped clarify some things. Don't get me wrong, the right tire for your driving surface/habits does change things but in this case you described issues mostly when hitting rough spot or undulating road surfaces at higher...
OK, disclaimer: This is strictly my opinion (As is most of what I contribute). I've owned mostly compact 4WD pickups all my life, and up to a few years ago was a "spirited" driver. Now I'm old and wise...
AT tires generally have pretty good road adhesion as long as you stick with a quality*...
I'll admit I didn't read the whole thread but this is usually more indicative of a suspension issue than tires. Tires can certainly contribute.
Does it "bump, jump, and skid" or "smoosh, bouncy and skid?"
If it's curves you're having trouble with mostly:
1) Slow TF down with AT tires. This...
1) Some say yes, some say no. I have the Bilsteins and according to the manufacturer the bottle goes down and the piston goes up.
2) Not really. Depends on where you do most of your driving.
3) IIRC it is 55 ft-lb for the rears
Updated to original post: Looking to buy a set of (4) Magnetic 17" Ranger wheels. I'm in north central NC.
No longer need wheels: Bought aftermarket set from [TR].com Cancelled order (long story)
The engine is fantastic, ain't it!? But, yeah, with a few threads describing various different transmission quirks, yours pretty much nails what I got. Best way to describe it is that it feels like a manual tranny always in one gear higher than it needs to be. Most noticeable during in-town...
Stick with the manufacturer's recommendation. I like that most common grades aren't going to have any bad effects, but I've found that my engine is a great barometer of how an octane/ethanol grade can influence mileage. I recently tried a 93 octane, zero ethanol gas and my mileage was superb...
This is what I've been feeling in the transmission from day one. I want to make more of it than it may be, but in the past three years I've had several "newer" automobiles since my old friend, the 1999 Tacoma. Every one with a tranny that had more than 3 speeds and overdive has given me a slight...
For my off-roading wheel-tire combo I went from 17" wheels to 16" factory. The tires I have on them are distinctly taller than what you are asking about, though.
You won't notice more "bounce." You will, however, likely sense a bit more under-steer going from the shallower sidewall on the 18's...
Yeah, I rarely if ever have more than my full tool box in back. I can't see myself ever having more than about 300lbs in the bed beyond that. Even with full camping kit (tent, stove/kitchen, cooler, extras, misc. BS and so on.) Hardly a full-on Aussie Outback rig. Just me and a love of pickups.
