Don't inject anything into food. Don't put stuff in vents etc. Reason being is that if you tamper with her food and she has a bad reaction you can be held liable. You put something in her vents and she's allergic and has a reaction, again you would be held liable.

As long as there is (allegedly) no taxpayer money used to fix it then most people will tune out the entire issue. When the next domino tips over, then some people will briefly watch the news until they get the same response or worse happens. Most people today only care about their personal wants.

If you only need to protect the floor, then you can toss in a heavy mat either truck specific or one cut to size . Bedrug makes a floor and tailgate only version that is cheaper than the full bed version.

The plastic drop in liners can shift around causing surface damage in the bed which could lead to rusting. They also tend to be pretty slick. The spray or roll on liners are permanent but no water gets under them. The Bedrug is installed with velcro, drains and doesn't shift around.
