Thanks! My Ford/Fox kit arrived yesterday. I have the space, tools and knowledge to do the install. I've done plenty of lifts on JK and JL Wranglers and even a Nissan Frontier but this axle shaft thing on the Ranger is my biggest concern.
My Kit arrived today. I have the space, knowledge and tools to install the kit. My plan is to make an appointment for an alignment with a local shop I trust then install the kit the day prior to the appointment.
Thanks Benny.
In the Nissan Frontier world I seem to recall it was recommended to do a transmission drain and fill around every 25,000 miles or so. It took 4 qts for a drain and fill.
I like this idea. In the Nissan Frontier world it was recommended to do a drain and fill about every 25,000 miles. It...
I've mentioned this in another thread and this seems like a good place to do it again.
I had a K&N filter on a TJ Jeep Wrangler. It spent a lot of time exploring the NV desert. I can't explain how nasty pulverized dust is. Anyway, I pulled the filter once to check it. The dust layer behind...
Not real funny but around 1980 I changed the oil & filter on a friend's car. The new in box Fram filter had the gasket cut uneven and was unusable. As someone else said, now I always check oil filters in the store before taking them home.
Anyone know if the points can be used to service a different Ford vehicle? For instance, I have a 2010 Fusion due for an oil change and would like to use them for it.
I normally change my own oil but it's a real PITA on the Fusion as it's so low and has access covers that need to be removed.
I like it and think it's priced fair for what you get. Consider by the time someone (me) gets an FX4 package ($1295) , a Ford Performance Fox Suspension ($1495), decent off-road tires ($1,200-$1,500) you're going to be getting close to the package price and still not have all the features.

You may be right about 2% being an arbitrary number for Blackstone and truthfully that is the reason I used it.
ETA: I found this Amsoil article that puts the limit at 2.4% for gas engines.

I also found an RSA article on Oil...
Based on the wear metals I suspect your engine has not been harmed yet and would likely be fine if Ford could ever figure this out. The 2.3L EB engine has been around for a while. You would think the bugs would be pretty much worked out.
Like you, I like my truck. I'm kind of dreading...
Wear metals look good. Viscosity is low for a 5w-30 or even a 5w-20. It should be around 10 cSt. Fuel dilution is high as you know. Should be less that 2% and lower is better. I didn't see flashpoint but would assume that is low also because of the fuel.
Same thing I was going to ask. Trans temp is not on the XLT dash screens and not available on my Torque app. I would love to have that information when I tow my small travel trailer.
I typically don't name my vehicles but when the Ford Pass app asked for a name I figured I had to come up with something.
Ricky. My truck is Ricky Ranger. Lol.
I like my XLT dash for the most part but do wish there was a couple more screens for vehicle information. I sometimes tow a small travel trailer and explore the desert on a regular basis.
Screens showing coolant temp, oil pressure, oil temp and transmission temp would be nice. My JL...
