Purolator makes/made the Motorcraft oil filters. A few years back Purolator was having issues with tearing filter media in their oil filters and it was a big topic on BITOG. That carried over to a few of the Motorcraft filters, most notably the FL-820s.
I don't know who makes the Motorcraft...
Haven't changed it yet but I will likely use Rotella Gas Truck 5w-30 full synthetic. It has a stout additive package. I've used it in my last 2 vehicles and it always came back with great UOA numbers. Got a Valvomax drain valve that will get installed at the first change. Oil filter...
I'll be getting the Ford/Fox kit eventually for the lift but have to say I have no complaints with the FX4 suspension ride. I didn't expect a sports car.
Hi Benny,
First, I really appreciate your presence on the forum. Thank You!
Just bought a new Ranger FX4 and I think I need one of the M-18000-RA Ford Performance suspension kits to help in my desert explorations. If you're still offering discount codes it would be awesome.
Thank you again.

Sure glad I found this thread. My July 2020 build Ranger has the yellow coolant and of course the included manual specifies orange. I was thinking about calling the dealer service department and asking if my Ranger had the wrong coolant.
My passenger side swing box arrived today. Will install tomorrow. I'll probably get the driver's side too.
Glad your wife is home. Prayers for a full and fast recovery.
I for one will not use a K&N air filter on an off-road vehicle. K&N is generally associated with higher silicone numbers in UOAs.
I had a Jeep TJ Wrangler that I used a K&N filter in. This Jeep saw a lot of use on Nevada dirt roads. Went to clean the filter once and was surprised to see a...
I like white vehicles. Perfect for the desert.
First mod? I'm torn between side step/rock rails, Fox coil over leveling kit or spray-in bed liner. Will get all three eventually.
Thanks for your input everyone. Today I checked out the XLT. Once the salesman showed me how to adjust the seat up/down I was able to get enough leg room and it felt comfortable for the long haul. I like it! Will be taking delivery of this tomorrow.
Glocker, I know what you mean. Almost 20...
I'm 6'-1" with a 34" inseam. Today I drove a Lariat and I came away wondering if the leg room was going to be adequate, especially for longer drives. Tomorrow I'll be checking out an XLT with the manual seat to see how that is.
So tall guys, are you generally satisfied with the leg room in...
Interesting thread. I'm in the undecided group. I've never had one and never needed one. If all goes to plan I'll be getting a Ranger next week. It looks like I could hold off a few years and get one from Flood Ford later if it looks like I'll need it. May do that.
Thanks for your input. I greatly appreciate it. I live in Churchill County and I spend a lot of time ranging out to the north, east and south. One of my favorite pastimes is exploring old mine sites and mining towns. I don't crawl over rocks/obstacles on purpose and that kind of off-roading...
Good to see. I'm thinking about replacing my JLU Wrangler with a Ranger and I'm wondering about it's off road capabilities. It will be seeing a fair amount of use out here in the Nevada desert.
Seems like a simple question and I'd like to know the answer too. I'm seriously considering a Ranger but after reading the 40 page thread on fuel dilution in the oil I am having second thoughts.
Well, I'm seriously considering a Ranger but after wading through 48 pages of "Fuel in the Oil" maybe not.
How widespread does this problem seem to be? Surely all Rangers can't be afflicted.
Thanks
