I've found that Alert mode can be pretty useful on normal roads since it's just a vibration in the steering wheel. It can't hurt to make sure you're paying attention, although sometimes it can be annoying.
Aid mode can be quite helpful in some scenarios, but also sometimes aggressively scary...
That's the sound of the turbo my man. When you let off the gas, the turbo slows down and you hear it changing speed. If you listen closely, you'll hear it spooling up when you're on the gas as well. Welcome to Ecoboost!
Love it! Just the right amount of lift. How's the ride and handling?
Also, it seems like everyone is having issues with driveshafts popping out - any tips to prevent this?
Yep, all engine's are designed to be weather proof so you will have no issues hosing down the engine bay. I have already cleaned my engine bay like that. I just stuff a rag into the intake so water doesn't spill in, spray some simple green onto the dirty spots, let it soak for 5 mins, and hose...
IIHS labs are in Arlington, VA which is just outside of DC. Looks like they get sent to Ruckersville, VA after they're crashed though, about 1-2 hours south of there. I would call them up to see if you could get a tail light sent to you!
I'm running 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's, stock suspension! The tires are just over an inch taller than stock and I love the tires, especially for their value. They clear mud very well, air down nicely, quiet on the highway, and well built. Definitely an upgrade from OEM. I talk about the...
I would refuse to pay that $100 "diagnosis" fee. That's not a thing. Take it to any other dealer or mechanic and they will always take a look at things for free and then give you a call to let you know what's wrong and ask you if you want to perform the service. If you can't get out of the fee...
I'm curious - where do you draw the acceptability line? If you knew better tires existed, particularly for wet traction, what do YOU deem acceptable?
If the tires came as "A" rated, but you also know that you could have gotten a "AA" rated tire. Would you still be calling Ford unethical? In...
Agreed, with it being a turbo, the moment you get into boost the MPG just completely drops. A few times at WOT and your tank MPG average is unrecoverable lol. I sometimes wish I didn't have the average MPG ratings staring at my face so that I'm not constantly looking at it.
If I had to do it again, I would probably ask for extra width for sure. However, after living with it for a few months and two trips to two different off road parks, they do the job and I'm happy (and relieved) I got them. The undersides of the sliders are nice and banged up so they definitely...
Extra width would be very easy to accommodate and he is very flexible with whatever you would want him to fab.
Not too sure on what he would charge, if I had to guess, probably in the neighborhood of $800? And definitely, just shoot me a PM when you're in the area and I'll be happy to meet!
If you truly think your tires are a POS and Ford made "unethical" decisions to use these tires, why don't you just buy new ones? If you were truly so worried about your safety, $500 for a new set is a tiny price to pay for your life.
Can't get yourself to get new tires since the OEM ones are...
Thanks for the write up! Very helpful. It honestly doesn't seem difficult, but I'm trying to visualize it and I just can't help but feel that everything would be such a tight fit to work in there. I also haven't spent much time in the engine bay either haha nonetheless it's good to know that...
