I turned off auto updates. I also updated Sync via USB, and didn't turn auto updates back on after that. Honestly, the USB-based updates are easy enough to do, I don't see where I need OTA updates, especially if they are buggy.
See above for my antenna installation.
I'll check the tray's directionality when I install the new one. I know from experience that some dashboard components just never go back in quite right once they've been pulled out. I want to pull it fully out and see if I can find a more stable mounting...
With the aid of another ham from a local club, I got my Comet CP-5NMO lip mount installed today. I think I still need to run a ground wire from the CP-5 mount to the frame, since the radio is not happy with transmitting at 50W, but did fine business at 5W and 15W transmit levels (~30 mile great...
Also note that the mic just runs up the side of the seat and fits conveniently in the area around the parking brake (who actually uses those anyhow?), until I can get an aftermarket fascia kit.
My ICOM ID-5100A is now installed, with the exception of the antenna, which is currently a Nagoya UT-72 magmount "installed" either sitting on the rear seat, or when I'm running in a more serious mode, stuck to the roof with the cable running through the rear sliding window. I'm still working on...
I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get a nice clean install of an ICOM ID-5100 into my new Ranger. Following this thread with great interest, and thinking about getting one of those sweet 3rd brakelight NMO mounts. My biggest concern with the brakelight mount setup, or anything else on...
The first day I owned mine, a guy walking through the crosswalk at which I was stopped for a red light stopped right in the middle of the road, staring at the truck, then gave me a thumbs-up and a "hell yeah!" before realizing that he was going to be in the middle of traffic if he didn't move...
Actually, I noticed it on my new Ranger. When I brought it back to the dealership (actually, the dealership's aftermarket shop) to have them do the spray-in bedliner, etc., I mentioned it to them. They checked by measuring the distance from the bumper to the ground, and one side was maybe half...
Thanks! I just updated my profile with a picture that they took at the dealership's aftermarket shop, where they had a pro photo booth set up just for photographing vehicles. That color is probably more accurate.
I'd need to check. This build came with the tow package, and since I have nothing to tow yet, I really haven't paid much attention to it. For me, a tow hitch is a convenient place to hook up a 12m telescoping antenna mast for doing field radio work. Maybe that will change at some point in the...
I got it on the 12th, so about 2 weeks ago. So far, it's been AMAZING to drive, but I've been babying it until I get it a little better broken in. Adaptive cruise control + lane keeping = almost auto-driving. I have also never before owned a vehicle with rain-sensing wipers, and it was a...
Since I probably did not describe what I'm asking about very well: I'm thinking about just using something like this, to keep some things dry in the bed of the truck (some may be a bigger than what fits into something like an ammo can or a tool box). Maybe something like this...
Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm looking for something a little bigger than what I see on that site, although I do see a case or two I might pick up for other reasons. :)
Any recommendations for a basic storage box or system which would work well in the new Ranger? I'm waiting for my tonneau cover to arrive, but until then (and maybe after), I'd like to occasionally carry some stuff in the bed without it getting rained all over here in the Pacific NW.
I like the size, and the way it drives. Honestly, an F150 would be a pita for me in Seattle, where the parking spots are all painted for Mini Coopers. Other than that, what's not to love? The Lariat trim has all of the nice highway/city trim (and great stock sound system) that I would want, and...
Hi, all! I just recently lucked out and was able to snag a 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4 (Magnetic&Chrome) from Evergreen Ford in Issaquah, WA. I wasn't even planning on buying it, but it was there in the dealership (it just showed up the night before) when I was looking at F150s. One other person test...
