  1. Fuel in oil

How long is the break in period?
  2. How Much Can You ACTUALLY Tow?

I've rented from UHaul several times without issue. Their online system is familiar with the current Ranger and knows it can handle it. I'd guess that the guy you called thought you had an older Ranger and figured there was no way it could handle towing the 7.5k you were claiming.
  3. Taking to shop for MPG issues; what to check?

As documented in various threads on the matter, dealers are plenty willing to brush off Blackstone reports.
  4. Taking to shop for MPG issues; what to check?

Fuel in oil is generally a problem for people with short drives, but you've specified that you're a highway driver. Have them check HPFP and injectors.
  5. Taking to shop for MPG issues; what to check?

I'm guessing they're having the OP bring it in so they can try things like new filters, nitrogen tires, etc, which they know won't fix the "problem" but which OP will be footing the bill for and making it worth their while.
  6. Brake Pads

Wearing out brakes requires stopping, and given how quickly you rack up the miles I'm not sure that stopping is something you do a whole lot. ;)
  7. Carrying 12' pipes, hang out of the bed?

I've done exactly this and it works great.
  8. Don't buy RainX Silicone Eundura Blades

I tried RainX once, and they were easily the worst wipers I've had (and I've bought some remarkably cheap wipers). I don't remember which RainX line I used, and I could have very well just gotten a anomalously bad pair of wipers, but with all the options available I've never felt a need to give...
  9. Any trailer over 1650 pounds needs brakes?

Yes. But the Illinois law is a firm legal requirement for operating on their roads, whereas Ford's requirement is not. If you're pulling a 3001 pound trailer without brakes, you could get cited even if you don't get in an accident. If that trailer is only 2999 pounds, you won't get cited just...
  10. Grand Teton NP Help

I've heard from a couple people that you can dramatically decrease dealing with crowds at Yellowstone by going late in the season, after school starts back up but before the snow starts.
  11. Grand Teton NP Help

One of my favorite trips ever was to Grand Tetons, though I'm afraid I can't be of much help in your situation since I was there in early March. I was in college at the time, and for spring break we snowshoed in to the base of Grand Teton. We built a snow cave and slept in that for several...
  12. 2024 Build and Price is up

I just did the same and MSRP is $4250 above what MSRP was on my 2019. And, of course, that doesn't include the fact that now there's dealer markups instead of discounts and factory incentives.
  13. Thinking about selling the Ranger....

While this was true 20 years ago, it's not so much any more. Hyundai/Kia have put a lot of effort into moving beyond their cheap history, and if you take a look at their current offerings it shows.
  14. Thoughts?? Fixed pricing

I checked my Carvana offer just for kicks a little over a week ago, and it was a couple thousand below what I paid for it in Jan 2020. I just got an email from them saying that in the past days, the value has gone up by $4323. I could sell my truck today for over a thousand dollars more...
  15. Getting Ready to Get Ugly at Dealership

The way I read it, you retain your full, unshortened new vehicle warranty, with the caveat that Ford may try to attribute any failures to the tune and thus exempt repairs from coverage under the new vehicle warranty. That's not to say that they will deny any particular claim, just that they're...
  16. WooHoo!! Today's Finally The Day!

My dad claims that the law only applies to gasoline (I've never felt a need to verify this claim), so he'll start pumping his own diesel before the attendant bothers to meander on over. I was with him once when he did this and the kid at the station kept insisting that what he was doing was...
  17. Oem mudflap hardware.

Correct, although this a recent change that took effect shortly after my remaining points expired.
  18. High milage tires

Glad I found this thread. I'm coming up on 27,000 miles on my original Duelers and they'll definitely need replaced by the end of summer. Like the OP, I mostly use the truck as a daily driver and for light hauling. My biggest gripe about the Duelers (other than quick wear) was how lousy they...
  19. Brake pedal too stiff

I'm thinking it's the opposite: these trucks typically come stock with 1) no damper, and 2) squishy brakes. Coincidence? I think not! Thus OP probably has a damper added which should be removed if he wants softer brakes.
