I believe so. I spoke to the mechanic today and he swears it's not too bad and easier than on some of the older models.
He was so nonchalant about it, it really made me feel better that I'm not going to end up with dinged panels and rattles in the truck. I'm cautiously optimistic.
The dealer worked hard with Ford engineers to find the problem. There wasn't a tech plan for this problem so that is apparently what the service manager wanted guidance about. They sent pictures to Ford showing them the problem and where the leak was coming from, but it wasn't until Ford gave...
It's definitely coolant. The mechanic didn't hear back today from FMC, but hopes to hear first thing in the morning (we're two hours behind). He didn't tear into it without FMC approval so there's a lot we don't know.
One thing he did tell me is there actually is a small dipstick on the top of...
I met with the service manager and the mechanic this morning while they had it on the lift to discuss what I was seeing over the weekend and show them the pics of the fluid loss, etc... They have submitted a request to FMC and then have to wait 2 hours to talk to the engineers. The Regional Rep...
My father-in-law is a diesel mechanic (18-wheelers) and had the same thought as you. Definitely coolant. It seems the transmission is full of coolant and it's coming out of the gasket.
I tightened the pan slightly and that slowed it down, my thought is the thinner viscosity of the coolant got...
I texted pics to the dealer last night. He offered to meet me at the dealership today but I told him I want a flatbed on Monday so I don't have to drive it.

That is the right spot. As long as its ATF, and not coolant, it should be an easy fix. My biggest concern is the viscosity and the color looked more like coolant than ATF.
I just hope coolant isn't somehow working its way into the transmission or tracing its away along the gasket...
^^^ It's coming out of an upward facing hole (unseen from below) immediately forward of this bolt; the one holding the rear of the transmission pan to the transmission.
If you feel under the truck just next to topside of this bolt, you'll feel the machined hole.
There's a small machined hole (I can feel it with my finger) on the aluminum part of the transmission flange right next to the bolt you can see with the drip coming off of it. This is towards the rear of the pan next to the transfer case. (The drive shaft you can see in the pic is the front...
***2/6/2019 Update*** Problem Solved, Heater Core Replaced and Truck Released Back to Owner
Did I win the distinguished award for the first Ranger to have mechanical problems? I walked out into the garage this afternoon and she's leaking transmission fluid. 53 miles.
I tried slamming it with up, down, left, and right pressure and couldn't get it to latch. I tried holding the release cord up and slamming it. I tried loosening the torque bolts to see if the alignment was off but that wasn't it. I tried lifting the bottom seat cushion up to slightly adjust the...

When does your truck arrive? I'm thinking I'm needing 285/70r17 in KO2s or Duratracs but want you to be my guinea pig. There isn't a ton of room for clearance from the inside of the tire and wondering how it will all work.
