  1. Terrain management upgrade?

I’ve read and talked to a lot of people and it’s looking like that feature might be hard programmed in the tcm via hardware we don’t have in ours. I was working on it heavily until I started hearing there are different part numbers for trucks with and without it. Thus far nobody wants to spend...
  2. Terrain management upgrade?

I ran it every way I could, the sand mode was noticeably better that any combination of locker on/off and every other mode.
  3. Terrain management upgrade?

I ran them all at silver lake sand dunes, I was able to climb the big ass dunes with sand mode on stock tires with 45k on them. I have an xlt fx4 with fox 2.0” level only. I am 100% convinced it’s not a gimmick as I was going places in the sand where big ass built jeeps weren’t able to follow. I...
  4. Is changing to the locking diff from xlt sport plug and play?

I will say I spent 2 days at silver lake sand dunes in Michigan, and I did better in sand mode with the locker off. The same on some wet grassy tracks I was on. The only time the locker was better was when pulling something slowly on slippery surfaces like grass or gravel.
  5. Is there a new V6 model?

Stock, it’s a beast of a motor. I wish I didn’t need mine for work, I would build it like I did my focus st.
  6. Is there a new V6 model?

Tons of VW cars come with a 5 cyl. Even some fords recently had a Mazda 5cyl (European focus st pre 2013)
  7. Terrain management upgrade?

Almost off, but it does loosen up quite a bit. They all do some nonsense with the traction control system. I spent a weekend in the silver lake sand dunes in Michigan and ran sand mode almost exclusively.
  8. Cone air filter replacement

The k&n type filters were originally designed to be used on race trucks where the engine might see a few races before it’s torn down and rebuilt. But I get the idea you’re going for. Just remember to check the impeller blades for a dull or pitted looking finish. If you see that, they are losing...
  9. Cone air filter replacement

But when you get the better turbo? Then what? Yet another turbo upgrade? I think I like your style!
  10. Cone air filter replacement

Bad for your turbo blades. I would stick with the dry flow with a sock on it, or factory paper. I’ve seen lots of turbo blades sandblasted to shit in 40k miles from k&n style filters. Green filters should have an oiled one for the Ranger, but again it will let in more dirt to wreck the turbo.
  11. Terrain management upgrade?

Under most circumstances I would choose the terrain management over the e-locker anyways. I’ve used it in some crazy spots and it walked through where I tried with the locker and it was hairy at best.
  12. Terrain management upgrade?

The fx4 is available on the xl trim so it should work just fine. Forscan is free and a dongle is like 11$. The switch is expensive, but you should be able to tell if it will work before you buy it. Or find a friend to borrow it from.
  13. Anyone installing CB/ Ham radio and/or NMO antenna mount on your new Ranger?

I’ve programmed about a dozen radiodiddy gd-77’s and tyt md380’s using their included software. I’ve also had good luck working with Miklor.com to get drivers and programming software for at least a dozen other types of radios.
  14. Anyone installing CB/ Ham radio and/or NMO antenna mount on your new Ranger?

The uv-5r radios have an odd bug that you need to program them once, erase that preset, then do it again. You also need to be sure you have the reverse in before you set the tone or it won’t work. My recommendation is to try and use a pc with chirp to program it and if you still cannot open the...
  15. Remote oil filter and cooler setup

The first change will be tough since they hire two silverback gorillas to do the initial oil filter install at the factory. Remember, hand tight and a 1/4 turn and no more.
  16. PSA For you folks that are removing / modifying the crash bars to install bigger tires.....

If you sell a truck, make the new owner sign a waiver of responsibility. Else you’re probably fair game for the ambulance chaser kind of attorney. This goes for any sale though, not just if you modified it.
  17. Remote oil filter and cooler setup

I’ve done about 7-8 oil changes in my 2019. The clips to get to the oil filter are still original. They are busted to hell, but they still hold the flap in place for 7500 miles or so between changes. Half of them are missing the bottom half of the plug part, and precisely none of them still have...
  18. Tremor vs. FX4 build

I thought the same thing until I used it in the sand dunes. The terrain management does things you can only dream of doing. I’ve been driving off-road for 20 years and I haven’t figured out how to modulate each brake individually to get unstuck from a dead stop in sand. It’s not needed, but man...
  19. Tremor vs. FX4 build

Definitely not a fat finger since you have to confirm it on the truck before it’s paired.
  20. Terrain management upgrade?

I think hill descent control is integrated into the crawl control. I don’t know if any non fx4 trucks ended up having the basic descent only feature, but it’s not that much for the switch to try it out. Maybe someone local to you with an fx4 will let you borrow their switch for an hour or so...
