Your trailer manufacturer or the trailer manual will specify "loaded height of hitch ball" and "recommended tongue weight" General rule is "flat-ish" erroring slightly low, and 10-15% of total trailer weight on the tongue.
Check the egr pipe and DPF sensor. There are threads on this forum to show the procedure, reasonably cheap repair.
EDIT: DPF Sensor, not DoG Sensor, Thanks Steve Jobs.
2019 XLT here, had it since Feb 2019. It shifted like shit from the showroom floor, several TCM reflashes later it somewhat behaved with the occasional hard P-R shift. It's now doing it more often (at 83K miles), I'm realizing I should have complained more when it was still under warranty :)...
I have had an intermittent hard P-D and P-R shift since new (Feb 2019) and every time the dealer looked at it they would say "We updated the TCM and it stopped". It never stopped, and still does it now and then at 88K miles. I guess I should budget for a new transmission by 100K...
OK, well I see it dozens of times every day while commuting. I guess everyone just has an aftermarket flasher.
Here's a ranger raptor showing adaptive cruise applying the brakes and showing a steady brake light under automatic braking.
You can flash any lights you want on your vehicle as long as they aren't blue. The number of flashing brake center lights from every vendor is proof.
FWIW, I've had a brake controller installed (teknosha PIII) and towed thousands of miles without issue since February of 2019 which was years...
This is a solved problem already… just tap the circuit hook up a data logger and drive around with acc on for a little bit. You’ll see that it has a pulsed output (visibly not pwm at high frequencies) and the lumen module listens for that and outputs a steady brake signal for the controller to...
Incorrect sir, regular brake light signal is present under the dash, in the 7-pin, and in the brake controller harness. Emergency and acc brake signal is only present deep in the harness or up in the headliner. There is actually a procedure somewhere on this forum for how to install the lumen...
I’m just stating that if the aeb or acc brake signal made it to the trailer you could capture that signal with the lumen module and not have to get it from the center brake light. So “no” it doesn’t pulse the brakes at the 7-pin and “no” it doesn’t pulse the lamp output at the 7-pin on either...
If the 7pin also pulsed then there would be no need to cut into the center brake light to secure the brake signal as it would be present at the harness under the dash.
The module changed the pwm signal from the brake lamp circuit to a steady digital on/off signal that the brake controller understands. The tbc is a progressive controller with an accelerometer so it can “figure out” how much brake is being applied and do the same with the trailer brakes. Once...
Probably have tens of thousands of towing miles on my Ranger and all I’ve ever used ( picked up new in Feb of 2019) was a teknosha p3 or whatever ( I can’t even remember). I wouldn’t use adaptive cruise or even cruise at all if I was pulling a trailer that needed the brakes. The p3 is sensitive...
I never used it once. The last thing that broke was a trans speed sensor which was just before 60k. I’m at 79k now only because I no longer drive to an office anymore(it used to be 700 miles a week or more). I should have refunded the warranty as soon as I realized I’m a better mechanic for 99%...
So I've had a bunch of mouse/chipmunk troubles over the past 5 years of ownership. I put a glue trap every now and then in the passenger seat well and put a french fry on the center of it. if I don't catch a mouse, there isn't one to catch. I also have put a $5 bounty on chipmunks that my...
So something has happened to the sensor that takes the reading from the tire sensor then. It shouldn’t be too much to replace it. If it’s still bad, then the issue is up in the wiring between that sensor and the computer or the computer is flaking out which isn’t likely.
