Like this thread's starter, I too want a locking differential, but not for the same reason. And I too have found the upgrade expensive. The main reason, the ring and pinion support is actually part of the axle housing, rather than a separate "third member" as with most other Ford trucks.

Well, you could own a late-model Honda. The electrical connector to the temperature varistor, sits behind the grill where any rain or wash water can enter it. When the connector gets water in it, the temperature always says about 76°F. Honda's fix? Blow compressed air at the connector.
There is a very good reason the USPS is in the shape it is in.
I ordered some T-shirts from Carhartt. They were shipped from Hanson, KY the 18th. From there the package went to Evanston, IN, to Las Vegas, NV, to Irving, TX, to Ft. Worth, TX as of today. The USPS now says it will be delivered on...
I've lived with the Ford Performance Tune for about a year. Besides the included engine performance upgrades, the programming also changes the "learning curve" of the transmission controller. Here are my thoughts.
It is NOT perfect! Shutters and stutters do happen, funny shifting, soft as well...
Polar Bear: Just for the record, the Lima L4 is a 140.4 CI, or just over an exact 2.3 Liter. The 2.3 in the Ranger, is just under 140 CI. More significantly, the L/R ratio is different, hence the somewhat higher peak torque in the newer version.
I know there are guys pushing the new L4 upwards...

How many remember the two, must-have items (no, they weren't go-fast pieces, but more like BOVs and tail gate dampers!) of the 50s? The two which stick in my mind, were the vacuum whistle, and the exhaust valve with a fart...
Most well-designed gauges, have a build in restriction to limit needle pulsing. The pulsing is related to the number of intake strokes per revolution.
Everyone keeps bringing up the use of the Pro-Cal programmer tool, plugged into the OBDII port. If you read the fine print which came with the...
The nylon, 1/4 inch tubing, using the correct fittings, is rated at 80 psi. This exact tubing is used in reverse osmoses units, and like most plumbing supplies, the ratings are 80, 120, and 240. Any material W/O markings are typically 80 psi.
I can't speak for others places in the US, but....
Here in New Mexico, anyone selling scrap to a local dealer, must show PHOTO IDs (for some reason, you can vote without one?). All of the dealers here in Roswell, are on the lookout for copper of any sort, and cat converters.
Alas, I suspect...
Fact of life: All tonneau covers leak, or seep, or aren't dust tight! Even the one-piece ones which fold over the edges of the bed, suffer the same fate. I guess if you want a tight seal, buy an SUV.
