  1. 23K market adjustment?

I have always shunned dealers who do this sort of thing. It reminds me of the old 1950s dealer tactic where five salesmen descend on you at once! Just go someplace else!
  2. A New Era in vehicles

It doesn't make any difference how many charging stations you have. If you do not have the grid capacity to supply them, you're essentially SOL. As for nuclear power.... If Thorium salt (cooled) reactors are so dangerous, then why is China building nearly a dozen of them? Unlike uranium, when...
  3. A New Era in vehicles

Sooner or later, we'll start having issues with our electrical grid's capacity. The "PorkPie" infrastructure bill isn't (or won't) cure the issue. What will cure it is more reliance on nuclear energy. But the very people who want transportation to turn green, are the same ones who are against...
  4. Ford Paid Research For Ranger Owners

Oh no! Then they'll know how I drive away from every stoplight, as in screech!
  5. Missing part to center console?

    This is what mine says:
  6. Ford Moving toward Build-to-Order, Away from Packed Dealer Lots

My experience with ordering what you want. My first was a 1983 Mercury Cougar, with every available factory option except a sun roof, trailer hitch, and two tone paint. It was, according to the dealer the first V8. It has throttle-body injection to boot. Took 3 months to get, only to find out...
  7. engine cover and FX4 package

You may be correct Doc. The bezel lighting is sort of redundant because it appears on the dash display. The folding headrest, I've been told, had more to do with the NHTSA's rule. As for the tie downs? I can't say. I do like the ones in the new Maverick however. I should add... I can't wait to...
  8. engine cover and FX4 package

I think I mentioned this once before. Adding the engine cover increases the under hood temperature significantly. I suspect this is why it has been discontinued even on the Lariat. Honda has the same issue with their Civic Type R. Most guys who race them, remove the cover to reduce the heat...
  9. Remote start...how?

I've had two previous vehicles with remote start, both Hondas. I can count of one hand, with fingers left over, the number of times I used them. I think I've remote started the Ranger, once.
  10. Ford to Supply Parts for U.S. Postal’s New Delivery Vehicles

Electric? Just for fun, I bought one of these from Scooterfied.com
  11. Road Debris - Ugh

    Spike strip do that!
  12. I have a rant about my local dealership and techs.

Mr. Bulger, there was no specific target in my post, so don't take it personally. I'm 81, and I installed all of the go-fast goodies my Ranger, by myself! Yes, some of us can't because of age-related issues, but luckily I'm not one of those. I'm once divorced after 31 years, and my second...
  13. Worse m.p.g. Using higher octane

Pure octane isn't the only issue. The Reid Vapor pressure rating is changed based on the local ambient. Thus individual ratings from one to another supplier is to be assumed.
  14. Bucking/Surging Epidemic

    Interesting data here: https://gearsmagazine.com/magazine/the-more-you-know-about-the-10r80-the-better-off-you-are/
  15. I have a rant about my local dealership and techs.

I suspect I'll regret getting into the middle of this, but.... I have always held the belief, that if you can't fix something yourself, then don't complain about paying the price to have it fixed by someone who can. This rule applies to almost everything, including divorces! I wish owners...
  16. Rust - The Dealers Problem or My Problem?

Well, a good coat of rust—on the surface—is a good thing. Otherwise, nada.
  17. Remote start...how?

I use my iPhone, which works at a much greater distance.
  18. How do you feel about rodents?

Just so you all know..... Tree squirrels (not to be confused with ground squirrels) are responsible, for nearly $500 million worth of crop damage each year. The majority of this, is damage to nut crops. In addition, they're one of the most destructive of all rodents, second only to rats. Yet...
  19. Forscan does not detect PCM

None? The procedure is this: Download the new programming. Save the existing program. Then upload to the new programming. I have to assume you did that?
  20. Forscan does not detect PCM

My question is, did you buy the truck new, or used? I actually got asked a few questions by my local dealer, mainly because they've never "tuned" a Ranger. If I understood what was explained to me, the vehicle in question came up with the same display. In other words, no tune! This said, if it...
