    The roar is from the mechanically driven engine cooling fan. For some reason Ford decided that it should be engaged on start-up. No way to stop it except drive for a few miles.

    Correct that the auto industry is not that big a user of chips in the market, only 9% based on Chip revenue. (from IEEE Magazine). It is growing 10%/year though.

    My 2020 does the same thing. I live in a hilly area and at the same exact place each time it will down shift to 3rd and speed up, when going down the hill. I’ve learned to lock out 4th going up the hill so it stays in 3rd and does not downshift going down.

    1963 Galaxy 4-door. 289V8 and automatic. Cost $250 and had a rattle can paint job in dark grey and smoked like a chimney when idling. Didn’t last long!
