Not if you checked it 3 months ago and there are no leaks. Not sure about the Ranger transmission but previous automatics I had would be sluggish to go into gear if the fluid was low.

I have and it works great. You have to remove the trucks lower valance. I did that without any breakage. It has been on the truck for at least 6 months.
