I like to point out that using the "Emergency" Duralast 1000W Mobile Power Outlet (Inverter) I will always:
1. Attend to the operation of the power inverter for safety.
2. Keep the engine running, at all times, to charge the battery from any drainage from the Duralast power inverter.
3. After...
The manual say's it should be attended to at all times when turning on the inverter for use.
The hood should protect the power inverter from impending snow/rain since it is installed just below and before the battery. I put duct tape over the open receptacles openings before use. Keep in mind...
Duralast 1000W Mobile Power Outlet Application #1 for the Ford Ranger.
My next door neighbor has a Ford Ranger with the rear sliding window. He also installed the Duralast 1000W Inverter. Since he works in the construction trades, he has a Lasko high speed fan (110AC/~240 Watts ) for moving air...
I did it for the AAA tow truck operators - in case my Ranger "ever" breaks down they will be able to identify my Ranger. :)
I have been driving my Ranger XL for over a year and have only seen two of them in a population of over a million people.! So, clearly marking my vehicle is a requirement...
A better picture, in broad daylight, just for the Ranger OCD forum members.
BTW ... the new front, shiny, Ford license plate can be had for ~ $12 from AutoZone.
Keep in mind, anything that say's the Ford trademark on it is marked-up to pay the blue oval people in Detroit.
A bit of humor...
In this area, the "radar lovers" aka The Ohio State Highway Patrol :explode: would have picked you up in a heartbeat and fined you $100 plus court cost. Now they have to drop their coffee and donuts and swoop in behind your vehicle for a better inspection. By the time they did...
So what can I power with the Duralast 1000 Watt Mobile Power Outlet? <--- Plenty!
(Per enclosed spec card and enclosed owner's manual)
Heavy Duty Work Light 990 Watts
1/2 H.P. Air Compressor 975 Watts
1/3 Submersible Pump 920 Watts
Reciprocating Saw 720 Watts
1/2 Reversible Drill 620 Watts...
After using the power inverter, you need to disconnect the load(s), turn off the inverter power switch and disconnect the power input cable(s) to keep from draining the Ford Ranger main battery. The Duralast 1000W maximum "no load" current draw is <= 1.5 A. I chose to insert a 150A inline...
DIY Hill Billy Emergency Low Cost AC Power for the 2019/20 Ford Ranger
There is really only one spot, under the Ford Ranger hood, to mount a 12 VDC power inverter.
The spot is in front of the battery - there are no other places to mount an inverter unless you spend time and extra money to buy...
For those DIYers with about $15 you can also prevent "no see um" mosquitoes and pesky black flies from entering your Ranger vehicle thru the rear window.
BTW … my next door neighbor did his for about $8
DIY link (my link  )...
On my "plain jane" XL Ranger with manual keys, manual side mirrors, no GPS, on/off heating/cooling control and manual seat position control but the only special option item I ordered was this tiny, square manual sliding window. By installing a mesh screen, on the outside, it helps tremendously...
The question that everyone is asking me is "where can I get Aluminum?" for this truck bed cover project.
I use two vendors - this is not an endorsement - there are many other suppliers.
1. Metal Supermarkets (locally in US cities and online)
2. Metals Depot (online)
A bit of humor ….
You will definately need to reduce the mesh spacing to prevent collecting and capturing Canada's only blood sucking female national bird aka the mosquito. Your Ranger's gas mileage will go to zero carrying all those varmints inside your vehicle.:oops:
BTW ... cool...
