Took you guys advice and purchased a desulphator and installed it immediately after a 30 mile drive. Voltage on the desulphator display was 12.4V. 2 hrs. later the indicated voltage actually went up to 12.7V so it must be doing something. Note that I did not connect a battery charger at that...
I disconnected the BMS because I don't like the charging voltage varying from high 13's to low 15's. The voltage regulator keeps the voltage within a few tenth's around 14.5 all the time.
My bad. It is an AGM! And yes I agree the battery is most likely going bad. I didn't turn off the BMS for at least a year, so it was never charged correctly. My trips are 30 miles so that should be enough?? Also, I don't understand how with only 11.8V, the truck reliably starts way below zero.
On my 2022 Ranger XL (The beer can edition), it is now 3 1/2 yrs old, 36,000 miles. For the last 6 months, the static battery voltage is generally between 11.8 and 12.0 volts. The BMS is disconnected so it receives the full alternator charge. I receive numerous messages stating the system was...
I recently had to use my Ranch Hand guard on my 2022 Ford Ranger, just not on a deer! Pulled into a gas station. Pumps were on the left @45 deg angle. Picked second row. Pulled up and pumped. Drove past the pump and swung around to the left to be on the outside of the 1st row of pumps to exit as...
The Ford Factory warranty is dependent on the integrity of the Dealer. Case in point: Purchased a 3G Ranger and my father a Crown Vic from this dealer. I had a bad throw out bearing that whistled. Took it in and their head mechanic and I went for a test drive. He verified it was a bad throw out...
Just let the voltage regulator handle the battery charging just like it has been done for the last 100 yrs. Don't need no stinkin computer brain to control battery charge! Wet cell batteries prefer to be charged to near 100%, not 70% per the BMS to save a quarter of a mile per gallon.
I installed a Gator EFX tri-fold. Then had to seal the tailgate gaps to keep the dust out and finally reworked the Gator tri-fold straps to allow only one fold open. See episodes #6, 10 & 32 here: (1) My 6th Ford Ranger - YouTube
Exactly why I purchased mine. My custom tailgate took too much time and money to build to have it damaged by some bonehead on his phone. Plus I have heard it will take out his radiator and transmission cooler. Lesson learned!
Back in the 1960's only the "dummies" went to Technical school 1/2 days. After I graduated college, I spent the next few years doing night classes at the same Technical school to get the training I passed up in high school!
