About once a month I'll pop the hood open and just check a few things, really more of an excuse to look at my go Fast parts lol. I know I checked the fan clutch wire harness thingy a few weeks back and it was fine. Sure enough I just barely pulled on it today and it came apart. Ran to autozone...
I told myself the same thing for about 3 months until the vibration drove me mad. Went to a local driveshaft shop and had the driveshaft rebuilt for 500 bucks. New u joints, carrier bearing(which is way over built compared to stock or JXB) and balanced. Drives like butter.
Sounds like my exact experience. I tried washers, spacers, JXB sent me the extra soft bushing. I tried cutting the bushing to make it softer. Helped, but didn't get rid of it.
If I could go back in time I wouldn't have got it. Just my experience, but if you have vibration and your carrier bearing isn't the root cause of it installing the JXB carrier will only make it worse. Time and money was better spent at a driveshaft shop in my case. Unfortunately I didn't figure...
Thanks guys! This was my first vehicle purchase and I've really had a lot of fun with it. Crazy to see how far it's come in since last year! I can still remember the day I bought it when my salesman fell asleep in front of me(literally). The feeling of driving it home the first time was...
As good as an exhaust can. 30k miles later Still has the deep mellow tone and no drone. The clamps have all stayed tight. No rust or corrosion, but I'm also in the south. Moving to Colorado early next year so we will see how it handles a snowy and salty winter.
I will also add they didn't charge any for their little "modification". Dana/Spicer makes Toyota shafts as well, he showed me a Toyota shaft right next to mine, identical minus a few mm's of material. Their assumption was since it was the same that the carriers would be the same, but ford had to...
Parts and labor for everything and removal/install on the truck $500 out the door. I know what you're going to say, should've bought a 1 piece. My trucks a 2wd and nobody makes one for it, too long.
A little 3 month update on the JXB carrier. The driveshaft shop I went too didn't like the clam shell design and ultimately didn't want to try and balance it without using parts they trust which I understand.
Granted there were a few outside factors, one being the driveshaft wasn't very...
Finished the suspension this morning. Bds 1' shackles in the back to gain some travel. That paired with the 5100s and 6112s in the front it's riding good. Sits way better too. Can't wait to get it on some trails and fire roads to see how it handles.
