3 counties in Missouri had some really bad flooding yesterday. It was similar to the one a few years ago (IIRC was in NC) that killed a lot of campers there bit luckily all of them here were rescued.

I wish there was a way to get some of that water over to the west. We're all in a serious drought here and they keep building these darn data centers which only gobble up more water!

Over 350 people were rescued across three counties in Missouri on Friday amid catastrophic flooding and rapidly rising floodwaters. Authorities warn that many roads remain washed out or are covered by floodwater and are impassable on Saturday.

About 100 rescues were water rescues and the remaining were of staff and campers from Camp Taum Sauk in Reynolds County, according to the Pacific Fire Protection District.

All the staff and campers from Camp Taum Sauk were safely evacuated and are being reunited with family, according to officials.

Campers at the Taum Sauk campsite were alerted about 2:30 a.m. local time to the rising water levels after the area saw more than 12 inches of rain, Kate Moore, the public information officer for Missouri Region C Incident Support Team, told

The campers, about 168 teens and 60 adults, were airlifted out of the flooded area by National Guard helicopters, Moore said.

Monsoon season is starting now and we've had a few small storms the last 2 nights. This one looks like it might just give us a good soaker tonight if it stays on course.

So far this is turning out to be a good Monsoon season with 3 days of rain and today being the heaviest. It rain hard for a good 90 minutes with some nice thunder and lighting. Up in Goodyear we only had 1 good Monsoon season and that was 2016, the first summer I lived there. After that we'd call it Nonsoon season. When you're in the desert where rain is rare it's nice to see it and it breaks up the heat.

Living back east I hated rain because we got way too much of it. I can only remember a couple times we were in drought conditions and then fall would come and make up for it with days and sometimes weeks of rain. I had bad SAD disease because it was always so gloomy especially in the winters. Hopefully some of this makes it up your way Chris @Chris M.

We do get a lot of that here. With the lack of rain the ground is hard like concrete so when it pours like that it just floods the streets. We have an area right outside our gate on the main road where it dips pretty good with a Flooding Area sign. But there's always someone who tries to cross a flooded road near a wash and gets stuck in the middle and has to be rescued. We got a couple more good storms through the night and a really good thunderstorm around 2am so I'm sure a few areas are flooded now.

What's funny is you'll watch the news and see reporters out there reporting just the rain. lol Like it's some phenomenon that only happens every 100 years. The best one I saw was when a car went by and soaked her because she was to close to the road.

Or it would just sprinkle a little and turn everything to a brown paste on your house, driveway, patio and furniture. I use to get up and hose off my solar panels after them because you could see the difference in production with the dust all over them. Luckily we haven't had any dust storms yet and the last 3 nights of rain have been nice.

Also, make sure you hose down your AC coils. They'll get clogged up and choke your HVAC with all that dust in the fins.

Seems like it's always a matter of time. Just waiting for Idaho to get burning. We've had some smaller ones and firework caused but we have so much fuel load on the ground from the winter it could bad.

We would get that occasionally in MA. The air was thick and would choke you trying to breath and having asthma it wasn't fun.

You could call Granger and get a few few of these and blow it right back up north.

I think Canada should be taxed with a smoke tax for polluting us with smoke and burning poutine fumes destroying the environment. Can't imagine how bad it's up in the @DukeCanBuildit area
