Might want to start stocking up on mom and components, looks like there could be another ammo shortage soon. Some areas are already reporting low to no 5.56 and 9mm. I stocked up heavily after the '08 mess and probably will outlive my supply. lol

We've been monitoring this too. I shoot mainly 9mm & 5.56/.223 & been thru couple of major shortages, so I've been stocked up also. Still, when I saw 9mm just disappear from my go-to stores I did grab a case of 5.56 there & drove way out of town for couple cases of 9's.

I saw these store in town restock 9's since then, but it seems they sold out immediately & they are out again.

Stock up when it's plentiful, and practice with cheap rim fire. That's been my practice...

Sometimes it's panic buying which I'll admit I've done in the past. Once the dust settled after the '08 mess and things returned to normal I stocked up on everything I have which now is only .22. 9mm & .223. I did buy a lot of Wolf 9mm steel case just for plinking in early 2020 right when the covid scare came out. This is at Target Sports USA and it was only 128.62 for a case of 1000.

TSP919FMJ-BULK - P919FMJ Wolf Performance 9mm Luger Ammo 115 Grain FMJ Steel Case-Case of 1000 (20 Boxes of 50) - FREE SHIPPING $128.62

TSP9HST1 - P9HST1 Federal Law Enforcement 9mm Luger Ammo 124 Grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point-Box of 50 - $36.79

I like it too and have both my carry guns with it. You should've stocked up before you retired as a going away present for yourself. lol

Target Sports use to have a sale on it once a month IIRC it was the last Tuesday of the month. It was half price for that once day and this went on for quite a while and I'm kicking myself for not buying more back then. 🤦‍♂️

When I started, they used to give us extra ammo when we left the range. The last few years, they would actually count out the rounds needed for qualifying and duty use. If you wanted extra, you bought it yourself. I kept plenty of extra loaded magazines in my car, both pistol and rifle.

That's amazing price on the Wolf. I also used to buy from Target Sports when they used to have case of 5.56 for I think $300, shipped? But when Covid hit I think, everything were either sold out, or prices had skyrocketed, so I started buying locally at that point. I should have been looking for steel case Wolf 9mm's. lol

I use Hornady Critical Defense for carry. Only because it's always on the shelf at the local store. lol

I traded in my Springfield Armory Prodigy & S&W Model 69(.44 Mag) for Model 29! I've always liked stainless revolvers and that's why I bought the M69, and while it still looks very good to me, I started to find blued revolvers really attractive last couple of years? I think I got $1265 for the two guns & M29 was $1299, so it was a easy decision for me. Prodigy was still jamming like crazy, which I didn't mind(bought it for plinking), but I didn't care for 2011 design as much as I thought I would(still love 1911's).

Purchase was definitely influenced by Dirty Harry too. lol

I know little to nothing about revolvers, but I learned the reason for rubber grips after shooting this gun. Wood grips are beautiful, but they bite! My nickname for this guns is "mean son of a *****". I only shot 12 rds of .44 Magnum & 12 rds of .44 Special, but it beat up my right hand with the Magnum loads! lol

The same thing with my Ruger Security Six with .357 magnum loads and that small wooden grip! I've still got those wood grips, but they are in a box!

.44 mags are that much worse!

I've shot .357 Magnum couple times before, but I remember them kicking just little bit more than .45ACP(which I love). .44 Magnum, I tell friends that it's the only gun I own that I respect. True hand cannon. lol

My Remington 597 turned into a machine gun when the injection molded sear wore down. That was a fun surprised to discover at the local range!

Modern Remington earned their bankruptcy
i have 2 - 597s and both have failure to feed issues,
