Clint is probably my all time favorite actor! I think him and Keith Richards will be around until at least the next ice age. lol
He's 95 and has been acting since a year before I was born! Read his biography. it is really quite interesting.

Seems he had a badass instinct!

Bold infractions in High School (Sending an obscene message to a school official on the football scoreboard), drafted into the US Army and subsequently wooed a Fort Ord Officer's daughter in an effort to seek his preferred job postings.

Back then you could hop a ride in any military aircraft (my dad did this on multiple occasions). The risk was that those planes sometimes received orders that redirected them inflight... (happened to my Dad).

Anyway, Eastwood hopped a flight from Seattle, returning to SF from a tryst with a young lady. He caught a ride in the back seat of an AD Skyraider bomber. It ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean 2 miles off the coast of California about 35 miles north of San Francisco. He and the pilot used the life raft as a flotation device and swam ashore.

There's a lot more but this gets you the gist of his persona as a young man. Independent, soft spoken, bold, smart. The kind of person that you do not want to underestimate.

Two other of my favorite lines from that movie were: lol

No, no, no, no, sir! Can't use them, Don't want them, Couldn't afford them if Idid. Race car drivers!

We'll bring out the moonshine and start telling lies and calling up the women. But no talk about racing.
I just thought of another line Duvall said in Days of THUNDER that still makes sense to this day.
The rear end's loose, the car's fast.
Loose is Fast and on the Edge of out of Control

What about Jack - still breathin and pretty good actor and reportedly one crazy dude, his parties were legendary, in Apocalypse Now in the campfire scene on the surf beach next to Robert Duvall is a guy (James Keane) that was from my growing up neighborhood , I only recently noticed that he was in the movie, but many yrs ago after he went off to Hollywood he stopped back for a home town visit and the guy was pretty wild like out of control wild, said he had attended one of Nicholson's parties and it was memorable.

I think he's my fav too! I can't remember what movie it was, but a kid got a hold of his service gun, and said it was all his fault and he should have secured it better. He was also a true American.

Best mini-series ever! I've watched it so many times. Robert Duvall is a legend.
I read the book well before the movie. It is a BIG book ~1000 pages. It sits in my library! The series couldn't cover everything, but it was true to the book! The best mini series that I have ever seen.
