Just another winter morning with 30 mph winds. 1 degree outside with -22 degree windchills and drifting lake snow. My poor dog won't even go out in this.

Just looking at that makes me cold!

Not to rub it in but it' 54 here this morning and has been in the mid - upper 70's and a blessing for us from what we just came from in AR. But hang in there Ed it looks like you'll get some relief the end of next week. The weather patterns still looking like it's going to flip and the warmer weather will be heading your way while a slight cool down will hit us here out west.

If it gets to cold I might be joining that marmot down in MX. I think I heard him calling calling my name. lol

It's snowing so hard now that we can't see the trees right outside the windows. Drifts about 4 ft tall across the driveway in some spots and bare in others. Weather man says cooler then normal weather right through March but this is the last of the really cold stuff. At least we don't have to worry about falling iguanas .

Here's what 30 year old double pane Anderson windows look like with 25 below winds outside. Room is 70 degrees inside with the woodstove red hot and thats a buildup of ice on the inside of them from the vacuum bowing the glass in at the center of them over time . It will start warming up Sunday night.

If the weather doesn't change much here with this next weather patter it's going to be a long dry spring - summer. Just like @Ranger Mel said that usually equals a lot of .

Snow Drought in the West Reaches Record Levels

Skiers at the Mt. Bachelor ski resort in Oregon in January 2025. Last year at this time, Mt. Bachelor had 109 inches of snow at its base; this year it has 27 inches.

Finally got the dog to go out and saw something on the other side of the 3 ft drift across the top of my driveway. UPS FedEx delivered a new suspension seat for my excavator that I didn't know was coming today and the driver just threw it in the snow bank. I didn't even know he came and in another hour it would have been buried and gotten smashed by my tractor plowing when the storm is over. Luckily the drift is packed lake snow and I could walk over it. Wasn't easy coming back with a 80 pound oversized box. I'm amazed he didn't blow his horn to alert me it was delivered.

I don't blame him. Just wish he had beeped his horn to let me know. The drift on the other side to get to my barn is over 5 ft now .

We lost power for about 0.025 seconds this morning in the heavy winds. Winds are now starting to subside. Looking forward to the melt next week. Can't believe the ice/snow has lasted this long on the ground.

At first I thought it was kind of a joke about all the Iguanas falling out of the trees down in Florida. I was pretty surprised seeing all these posts of people who have buckets full of them.

Tastes like chicken. Florida residents are allowed to humanely kill them. Lot's of recipes floating around.
