I have two XLTs: 2004 w/3.0 V-6 & 5 speed, 158K miles, and 2019 FX4 w/65K. If I had to get rid of one today…guess which one I’d keep?
I'd keep my 2005 over my 2020 Ranger, not even a close decision, but only if push came to shove... I'm not there yet.

How many miles on the 2001 when the transmission started to fail?
It had like 160k-170k when I got it. Started shortly after. Wasn't bad, just had to remember this was a truck not a race car, so stop changing gears like I'm Mario Andretti and it was fine

I had a 2004 Sport Trac I put a 100k on and put $0 into it over the 3 years I had it, it was solid and it also got 22 to 25mpg it was a little close to having an F150
zero issues, zero money spent ...
