I bought my 2019 Ranger Lariat new when I was living in the Phoenix valley. So I have used the heating mode maybe a few times in my 5 years of ownership. I recently moved to northern Arizona that gets some winter weather. This morning it was 35 degrees and after starting the truck with the AC in the "AUTO" mode the fan was at full tilt but no air coming from the dash vents or upper dash area. The only air flow I could feel was floor level. Switching to manual mode resulted in good hot air from all the vents. Is this normal or do I have a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, yes, that is normal. I think all cars blow full heat at your feet when it is trying to make a cold car warm. The ranger doesnt really blow wind to your feet I think the foot vents are up a little high and it blows some air under your front seats. As it approaches the selected temp in will make some air come from the dash board vents.

Thanks for the response. I guess I am happy the truck is not broken but also unhappy that it is designed that way.

I have owned 5 Ford products with dual zone HVAC systems going back to 2011. They all work this way. After the first one I never use Auto mode. In the winter I manual set the vents to defrost and floor, in the summer I only use the dash vents. I manually set the fan speed as needed.

Our Honda does the same thing...it is to keep cold air from blowing in your face and it helps the system regulate the cabin temps including side to side.
