Just stumbled across this guy's channel on youtube.

No talking, no advertising/sponsors, nothin. Just the sounds of this guy working on the truck. I think in newer videos he starts adding captions/cc notes if you care to see them. I do think some of the fun is watching these and trying to guess what problem he's attempting to solve on these old vehicles.

What really stands out though is this guy's ability to frame a shot and film the vehicles in such a way that you can feel the vehicle he's working on. I've long sought that kind of ability in any automotive or motorcycle photography. This guy makes it seem simple (though he does have the power of editing).

Anyway, past few nights I've poured a tasty beverage, sat back, and just watched this blissful entertainment. Thought maybe some of y'all would enjoy it too.

Wow. It sucked me in, but I did skip around a lot. I can hardly believe I was watching for about a half hour. YouTube does that sometimes.

I am currently restoring a 1940 Ford truck. The cab of the truck is my father-in law's 1946 1.5 ton truck Ford used same cab for them as the 40/41 1/2 ton. So far, I have the parts from five different trucks that I am using. Usually, I find it enjoyable but there are times when I would blow up the shop just so the truck is destroyed.

I saw this when you posted it and only watched a few minutes of it and forgot to come back and watch the rest. ?‍♂ I just added it to my YouTube favorites so I can watch it on the tv over the weekend.

That sounds like a really fun project, I miss doing this stuff on older vehicles. Growing up in the 70's & 80's all my friends had older brothers and we'd hang around watching them and sometimes helping (probably getting in the way lol) them work on their cars. Back then they all had Camaros , Chevelles, Novas and Challengers and it was some of the best memories of my childhood. Man what those cars would be worth today if we knew then what we know now! Somehow I just don't see a 2024 EV ever being this popular in 40-50 years.

But, you forgot the most important part in your post.:shock: ?

that's awesome. i grew up in a family that did not care about cars, motorsports, or anything. it was all about football and baseball, basically. i was also a child born in the 80s, but grew up firmly in the 90s. cars were going through an interesting time in those years. funny enough, i drove a stick shift Toyota Truck (not the Tacoma).. i believe it was a 1995. that thing was awesome.

in hindsight i wish i'd kept it and just added fun parts to it, but again.. i didn't grow up with any form of car sense. i think those trucks are actually becoming increasingly more valuable. not like those 60s and 70s muscle cars tho!

i've been rackin my brain to think of what car is a potential classic in the future. manufacturers really started trying to preordain some of their vehicles as classics and the prices are just insane. to me, a classic begins as an every man's vehicle, but civics, corrolas, etc. ain't gonna do it.

a lot of vehicles from 2005 to 2019 were like the pinnacle of many manufacturer designs. toyota with their V8s and bulletproof transmissions before they redesigned everything. those 6 speed transmissions from Ford on the F-150 were pretty solid too, right? importantly, all the cars of that era were before technology really sank its teeth in. people in 2050 are gonna look back at our gigantic touchscreens of 2022 and gag. the design won't be as timeless as the old polished wooden steering wheel and simple dash interiors of yesteryear. more tech = less reliable electronics too, imo.

anyway... long winded thoughts on the topic. and yes, @5thranger you best dump some pics! everyone loves lookin at old trucks!

Here are a bunch of old Ford Ranger commercials as well as other models, but the Ranger ones are great!

amazes how much more to the point those old commercials were. Told me what was special about the vehicle vs the competitors. Not some lame marketing speak. And ESPECIALLY better than that absurd jaguar commercial lol
