After doing some lower control arm work I wanted to change the nut on the lower control arm ball joint (connects to steering knuckle)
I have been to the dealership 3 times and even pulled the nut off in the parking lot - they can't find the replacement. Shop guide instructs you to throw the old nut away when removed.

So far I believe I have tried the H2 and H4 nuts from their in-house schematic but one nut was actually for the upper ball joint and the other just had different shape and different thread pitch.

Can anyone help? Hoping Phil Shilke can pop in on this one.

Don't know what thread it is, most likely metric, but it's called a Flange Nut.

Aha, I will give them a call to see if they have that in stock. I was given W520214-S440 - had a different thread pitch. I am assuming he was unable to find it because some paint huffer labeled the correct nut as a Tie Rod nut instead of titling it a lower ball joint nut.

What's crazy is that the title says Tie Rod Nut, but the description says Lower Ball Joint Nut.

The description says it's for the "lower ball joint nut , right" , is the left one the same only a little lower?
Hay....if I can have a leftie and a rightie, why can't my Ranger ??? And, depending on the time of day, one can certainly be lower than the other !!!

I agree, but I get confused when looking in a mirror, I end up tugging on the wrong one trying to even them out... if I could still stand on my head, it would be easier to tell...maybe...

That would have been helpful info maybe 10 years ago, but I'm close to tucking them in my socks at this point, probably to late...
