Your at the weight an equalizer hitch should really be used according to the Ranger towing guide (5k pounds) . They really add a level of safety at highway speeds.

Un fortunately you can't just go and slap a WD hitch assemble on every utility trailer you might tow...you would have to adjust and re-adjust the head height, and have the proper bar set up for each trailer. And you would have to put the trailer frame attachments on every time you towed. If you own the trailer....different story. But if you borrow or rent, it's just not practical.
A good stout slip in to the 2 inch receiver with a good ball and proper safety chains should be good for what he needs. By stout I mean the slip in part of the hitch shank, the 2 inch part should be solid steel, not a piece of 2 inch square tubing stock.

Tomorrow I’m heading on an hour and a half trip from 2800ft elevation up to 10500ft elevation. I just bought this Mahindra Roxor and it weighs 3000lbs. The trailer weighs by my research about 2000-2200lbs. So trailer weight about 5200lbs tops. Plus probably about 500lbs of stuff in the truck between my wife, me, tools coolers, camping stuff etc.. The way it’s loaded right now I’ve got about an index finger width of clearance between the spring and the bump stop on the back of my truck. Should I haul this way or should I shift the machine to pull weight back or move it forward? To me the truck and trailer look level and there’s definitely more weight in the tongue than the back of the trailer.
