Great thanks a lot LB ? you’re about to cost me more money? now I have to get a iPad, a mount for it in my truck, and this Mx+ thingy because I like fancy things I’ll never use to their full potential ?…
Luckily for my wallets sake I’m gonna get comfortable with this FORscan stuff first before I get into that one.
My EX cable just arrived.
Ordered it at 9:30-10ish am and received it same day at 4:30pm

thanks again shovelhd

This just popped up on sale, 20% off today:

OBDLink EX ForSCAN Adapter
It's a good adaptor, I use it with my laptop and phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro using the USB-C to USB-A adaptor that was included with the phone) with Forscan Lite. I didn't have my laptop with me when I was at Rockingham when that LF wheel speed sensor failed, so knowing the phone worked was good as I confirmed the codes before lifting the car to remove the wheel and test the sensor. And was able to clear the codes after the work was done.

I’m headed out to go pick up my IT guy so he can help me… definitely helps to have one ? luckily hes also my younger brother… talk about different worlds colliding a Ranch hand, a incredibly talented computer nerd, but looks like a real Californian ? compete with beard and authentic man bun hairstyle.
Hopefully I’ll be posting about my new splash screen soon….(I should probably call Mr.D at ford to beg him not to void my warranty for poking my nose into the brain of TRuCK. Before I change anything ?.)

I need to look in all the FMOD tools and such and see if I can load a custom startup/shutdown animations. I want to make a custom one based on "Raptor", but with "Thunder" instead.

Oh that would be so cool to make a custom one, if you get it sorted out.

I’d like to make one that reps “TREMOR” and maybe ford performance underneath. ?

I did a bunch of programming with Forscan and the OBDLink EX on the Ranger. Worked great. Very intuitive.

This morning, Mrs. Shovelhd informs me that her 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has a check engine light. 174K miles with only one dealer visit (failed 12V battery). I had purchased a BTE dongle for it, which is buried in a box somewhere, but I never installed any software. Hmmm.

So I broke out the OBDLink EX and installed OBDWiz, the generic free diagnostic software that works with the dongle. It saw not only the engine CPU but the hybrid CPU as well. I scanned the engine ECU first, which found several hard emissions control faults, both related to the evaporative emissions control system, and one stating (big leak). Whenever I see one of these, the first thing I do is check the gas cap. Sure enough, she had driven over 200 miles with the gas cap practically off (full serve station). I put the cap back on, cleared the codes, took it for a 10 minute drive, no more issues.

Point being, the OBDLink EX and OBD Wiz looks like a fairly comprehensive scan tool for any vehicle.

Didn't feel like spending 60 bucks on the cable, so i didn't. As I searched around for a less expensive option (or second hand), I came across a post on another site (f150 gen14) :

"Enter the code RICARDOS and it’s $40.77 out the door with free shipping.

https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/ "

I just used it (6/5/25) and it worked!
