Morning - I am looking to have a new radio system installed. The place suggested a Kenwwod DMX7709S. I took a look at the crutchfield site and it looks nicer than the current 4" screen that I have.

I was curious if anyone had any experience or thoughts about this particular model. Honestly, I am not trying to be cheap, just would rather not break the bank (I. married :D)

Thanks

I’d be interested in what you get. My 8” Sync radio crashes almost on a daily basis. Getting tired of this bs radio.
I am going to the shop tonight to see the radio and other options. This is the one they suggested.

I will update later.

Since most of our radios now integrate some other systems (at least the Sync 8"), such as climate control, backup camera and such, I would make sure you find one that works with the maestro modules, so you can integrate that new radio into the truck more completely and not lose any features. Maybe, required, I know in my wife's Jeep there is no Acc wiring to the radio from the factory, so the Maestro module is needed to monitor the CAN-BUS for acc on/off signals then activate/deactivate the 12+ to Acc relay. Looking on www.idatalinkmaestro.com the DMX7709S is listed as compatible.

That said, I like my Kenwood DDX-9905S w/DRV-N520 and CMOS-230 camera I installed in my 98 Civic. Was about $1,250 into that old car but made driving it enjoyable again since it added Android Auto, a feature of my Focus I really missed while in the Civic. Also, having HD Radio and DSD playback support were important to me, those are two features the DMX7709S lacks.

in the last year of having the 8" I have never had one issue, Love the android autoplay, cant live without it, the one or two things I didnt like were due to an upgrade that was pushed, I cant text back via voice now when moving, and it only scrolls back so far in the call history before I get an FING popup that says for your safety this has been disabled.
if I am in reverse you are locked into the backup cam, well many times the phone has rang and you cant answer it unless you pick up your phone, how safe is that!

Morning

I ended up getting the JVC KW-M865bw. It is fully integratable - with Maestro. It does have HD radio and connects wireless. It was the same price as the Kenwood wired option. It was only $349 - not to bad. I have had JVCs in the past and liked them so I am hoping it will hold true here. Gets installed on the 20th.

Did you try the answer button on the steering wheel?

It retains all of the factory functions including a/c, heating, ventilation etc? thru the JVC and Maestro?

The place it is being installed told me it does - I asked multiple times. I guess I am unable to confirm that until the day it installed.

Ok let us know if everything works as it should. I may go this route to get rid of the POS factory radio.

How about a used 8" oem? Might be plug and play?

One nice thing about Crutchfield is the sell plug and play adapters for just about everything even if you buy your radio elsewhere. I'm assuming alot of places have them now. Sure beats the old school laying upside down on a floorboard splicing wires lol
