For us it was a move to AZ where you kinda have to be careful about tea. Many places out west don't know how to properly brew sweet tea so they don't bother, and we all know adding sugar or artificial sweetener to cold tea is an exercise in futility because it won't dissolve properly.

I can't handle restaurant sweet tea as it's usually SWEEEEET tea.

I always get a glass of water and cut it.

My wife makes my sweet tea with 50% sugar and 50% monkfruit.

The monkfruit sweetens almost like sugar but nowhere near as bad for you.

Using 100% monkfruit just doesn't taste "right", but the blend is excellent.

We just gave up on it altogether and now drink our tea straight.

I've found that too, so I usually cut it with lemonade to make an Arnold Palmer. The tartness of the lemonade (provided it's not one of those overly sweet ones, too) makes for a good mix. Otherwise, I'll mix sweet & unsweet tea to get a good balance. Water makes it too "thin" for my tastes; don't get me wrong, I love to drink water on its own, but I don't care for it as a cutting agent.

Never heard of monkfruit; will have to check that out. I usually use honey mixed in when it's freshly brewed, and then let it cool down before putting it in the fridge for later.
