Ok, so I’m definitely not an electrician but have previously done some auto electrical work.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wire the set up I’m wanting.

I bought these lights (just prefer them over the strips) https://a.co/d/e2dqtpY and I also ordered this switch (didn’t like the one the lights came with) https://a.co/d/7SIMLk4

I’m just at a loss. Do I run wolfhaus hot to the switch to the positive on lights then the negative to the negative on the wolfhaus pigtail? Am I overthinking this or am I thinking wrong?

I do the opposite usually. Wire the positive directly to the lights. Wire the negative (ground) with the switch inline between. Reason: if there is ever a problem with with the switch or a wiring connection on the switch and that wiring touches the truck accidentally it will just close the circuit and turn on the lights. You will see it and recognize a problem without burning fuses and having electrical issues. Versus having the switch hooked to positive wire option which will short if it touches the truck accidentally which will burn fuses and potentially cause electrical problems.

So wolfhaus pigtail has a white and a black, white positive to positive of light strip to positive on switch, then what? Switch neg to both negative wolfhaus and negative lights soldered together?

the switch throws me off bc I have only done subs where you do the battery with an inline fuse.

I am not sure which color is what in your wiring because sometimes white could be negative. You need to know what is positive and what is negative. Read instructions for the plug and the lights to know color associations.

When you know the colors and are sure of the positive / negative for everything. Permanently connect the positive from the wolfhause to the lights (positive wire). Take the negative from wolfhause.. connect it to switch.. take the negative from lights and connect to switch too.

The switch when activated closes the circuit and the lights turn on.

I have wolf haus 12v spit with bed lights wired.
This is how I did it not sure if you have a 3way switch or not. From what you posted looks like 2way. But here’s my instructions and how I modified it slightly.

On my instructions it says to run power wire to battery. This is unnecessary because wolf haus split. On wolf haus The power is from the white ground is black.

I ran white wire directly to inline fuse supplied with my light kit. Eliminating the long run to battery. Then connected in-line fuse to the lights I have a three-way set up so the other Two wires on my lights went to the switch. The ground went directly to switch No need to drill into truck with the screw for grounding.

Remember the Circuit is only live when the key in accessories on or one hour after you turn ignition off. You could change the settings in the as-built code via Forscan . I changed it to be active for 18 hours after key off. This only applies to this circuit which powers the USB ports in cabin and where Wolf haus is attached.

Hope this helps

Edit: if you battery is old and almost dead it won’t stay on for long unless key in accessories on. FYI

My switch just has two wires.
Do you need an inline fuse?

Not necessarily but it wouldn’t hurt. If there’s a bare wire or something goes wrong it’s not going to blow fuse on truck and will be isolated at the lights.
